Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

Okay I've been playing this all week, about 16 hours in, and Im not finding things particularly hard? Maybe cause I heard it was ridiculous and Ive levelled up more than i maybe should, but things tend to fall in 1 or 2 hits, bosses Im killing on the 3rd attempt.... Its an absolutely incredible game, i just dont see the challenge i guess. I do die a fair bit, my humanity has maxed at 3. :) about to enter the depths, i imagine its about to get crazy. It better had!
I am imagine your playing the game right then, which is good ofcourse :p
Lot's of people find it hard to get used to the sorta tactical combat, and waiting for the right time to strike, but it may get harder!

The difficulty is really overstated. Though things like playing pyro / drake sword / master key do make pre-blighttown a lot easier.

There it is! That ****ing incredible feeling of joy after killing a boss you've been stuck on for hours again! **** you Flame lurker, **** you :D. Had to relearn him as I haven't fought him since October sometime and having PBWT and being in NG+ made him so difficult! That last try I only used 4 grass though which isn't too bad :p.

This. It's not as difficult as it is unforgiving. If you forget to put your shield up for a split second, you're hit. If you misread an attack you get hit etc but you're rarely ever one shot unless you neglect to level up Vitality. Learn enemies movesets, learn how to dodge/manage your stamina when blocking and knowing how to upgrade your weapons makes the game fairly easy (but still a reasonable challenge).

Just had a very tense moment... Was wandering round the Depths, when I suddenly realise I am exploring an area I know nothing about walking around with 4 humanity...so I come a cross this goggly-eyed weirdo, I rush him and take him out, only to turn round and see 2giant rats behind me... And then someone invades(think it is an NPC, as wasn't named?) ! So whilst dodging these rats, I was fighting this other guy as well. I killed him, but was killed by one of the rats! So had to track back to pick everything up... Phew.

Desperately need to see a bonfire soon!

The worst thing about Souls games is when anything fog/mist like looks like it's gone it still hits you because it's still the tiniest bit visable under a microscope

Watchout for the Frogs down there, they can lay a curse on you which requires lifting via a curse stone IIRC.
There is a ring down there somewhere which increases curse resistance, very useful.

Phew! Gaping dragon defeated on third attempt... Kept landing on me, and first time I didn't see the summons sign(though even when did, solaire died very quickly. Eventually worked out when it charges you, and was able to dispatch it with relative ease on the third attempt.

Edit- just got to the first bonfire in blighttown. Struggled a bit at the start, those big guys got me a few Times, mainly by knocking me off the ledge. Taking it very carefully now... Don't want to fall again!

Just killed Queelag(?) on 2nd attempt, should have done it first time, but it did this really annoying aoe attack twice in a few seconds which I couldn't avoid. Blighttown was.... Frustrating.

Blighttown is one of the most painful areas in the game IMO. Next time you'll use the back entrance by taking the master key and save yourself a LOT of time and annoyance.

Get ready to enjoy the rest of the game, it really takes off after Blighttown :)

Oh and Quelaag's furysword is a pretty amazing weapon to craft now you have her soul, might be worth a look.

I am really enjoying it!... I was late going to the football today, as I was supposed to leave at 12,but thought I would get a quick hour in before I left... Then at 12 I was invaded by someone and spent about 20 minutes fighting them off. I eventually killed the other guy (was all very cordial!) who had an almost identical build to me it seems, same weapon and armour, and even switched to pyromancy at exactly the same moment I did:D

This is really gonna last me ages this game, mainly as I only play when it is dark(a rule of mine with most games). Couldn't play during the day, it would ruin the atmosphere.

I basically had no problems except a slight curse in the depths, killed the gaping dragon on first attempt. B-)
blight town is a very strange place. I'm more confused about the layout than anything, but I'm still enjoying it. If it takes off after this, then what an amazing game. I do have the drake sword, and master key, but I'm trying to exhaust every option as I go forward. Level 43 at first blight town bonfire.

The two areas after Blight town are fantastic but I'm not a massive fan of a couple of the areas after them, they feel quite rushed. The DLC is fantastic though, 2 fantastic bosses, 1 great boss and 1 good boss.

After ringing the bell, I followed the passage in to Demon Ruins, came up against some thing called ceaseless discharge iirc... I just ran away! Picked up some pretty good armour though, called gold hemmed, which seems to have pretty good stats.

I was Bit lost at what to do next tbh to get to the surface again, so I backtracked in to Blighttown and followed a passage in to valley of the drakes, and killed some kind of Undead dragon.

got myself working xbox cotnroller, game was fun till that taurus demon, no way im ever gonna kill that thing, and i hate to start all over again from that tower killing every undead, meh. raging right now played like 1hour made no progress lol.

Just remembered something today that might be interesting to talk about; what's the largest amount of souls you have lost in this game and Demon's souls if you played it?

I personally lost 2 million souls in Dark Souls when I was fannying around with the giants in the main hall in Anor Londo :p. I wasn't too bothered to be honest as I hadn't used them because I was staying at level 50 to co-op S&O but it was still pretty devastating :o.

In Demon's Souls I remember losing around 125k to Allant when I died trying to get back to him. I remember being really ****ed off at that!
