Dashcams!

Could've done with one today - old man tried to force me off the road. Twice.
Crazy nutter - drove straight into my lane once, staring directly ahead of him. 5 seconds later, does exactly the same thing and cuts across 3 lanes, almost taking off the nose of my car :/

Note to Mini users: Don't unplug it after an incidentt.. It doesn't save the current file..

I unplugged it a few minutes after an incident to prevent it overwriting the footage - as my unit likes to lock-protect files due to the incorrectly set-up G-sensor I believe.

Sucks because it was 100% her fault and it would've made my claim go very smoothly!

That doesnt seem right. If you unplug it, wont the battery keep it running for about 30 secs or a minute before it turns off? Should that not be enough to save the video?

How big is your memory card? I will not overwrite for hours on a 16gb or more card.

Just got my nextbase 302g fitted at halford although it took 2 trips and they ever managed to break my jaguar keyring taking it out his pocket , its in and out my pocket everyday and never had a problem , ah well
seems pretty good aint took the video footage off yet on the computer see what the quality is like

I got my mini 0806 today, it's a Christmas present but I figured I'd test it to make sure it works and that I like it before it gets re-given to me at Christmas.

I have to say I'm really impresssed! The quality of the video, the ease to setup, lane assist function, motion detection, g-sensor detection and all within such a small discreet camera.

I already bought some of those small sticky back clips to hide the wire away but it actually came with some in the box.

It takes 2 x 128GB sd cards too which I thought was impressive. I used a spare 4gb one I found just to test it this afternoon but I've bought myself 2 x 64gb cards which should be more than enough.

After I went out this afternoon I found about 30 clips had been recorded! I knew there'd be a few because I'd been stopping and starting the car going to a few different shops. But there was lots of clips ranging from 10seconds to 3mins, turns out I'd left it on 3min loop so I've turned that off and will try again in the week.

So yes very pleased with it so far, bargain price too for what you get. I feel like there are other dashcams that are larger, do the same or less and cost more!

I'd recommend turning off the motion detection because it's too sensitive, you end up with a memory card full of write protected files and no room for new videos

Why have you disabled the 3 min clip size, this ensures that you can lock clips if and when the need arises and if there's a failure to write then hopefully you'll only lose 3 mins worth?

don't disable the loop videos or it will fill the card and then stop recording completely!
I've set mine to five mins pr clip. and turned off G-sensor lock all together. as I don't want it locking files to prevent overwriting unless I tell it to.

I turned it off because there was tons of clips, not all 3mins in length, and gaps in between each one.

Should I turn it to 5mins instead?

Mine has gone back... being replaced with a Transcend Drivepro 200

I'm sure the replacement 0806 would have been fine... I just have a bit more faith in the larger brand Transcend... and the video quality isn't vastly different.

I also have bought a GoPro Hero 4 Session on a silly-cheap offer to play with...

There's meant to be a ton of clips.. Turn it back on yes, the length of time is up to you.

Even though the next clip doesn't start where the last one ended?

It should do, there should be about 0.5s of overlap between the two clips to make sure nothing is missed.

If it doesn't, then you have a faulty camera and should send it back for replacement... these things are riddled with problems, unless you happen to get a good one.

I'll try it again tomorrow and see if there's an overlap
