Dawn of War II Beta Thread

Graphics are not even on par with coh

You are better of playing coh then Dow2.

PC gaming seems to be getting worse day by day.It has been long for me since there was a game that i actually enjoyed playing.

I am still playing the 2005hit bf2,cs:s and left4dead. Bf2 and cs:s are very old.

After playing this with all races and heroes I stand by my opinion that this game sucks so hard it makes me want to hurt myself... it is one of the shallowest, lamest experiences I have had from a major RTS, and the AI is simply shocking. There are tons of threads on the relic forums detailing exactly why this game is a fail, and the sad thing is that it's already gone gold.

Thread 1 http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=213355

Thread 2 http://community.dawnofwar2.com/vie...k=t&sd=a&sid=83f6fd584c339626f74e9e1eb3cf2435

I'm so dissappointed it's untrue. Thank God DOW 1 mods are still alive and kicking. Also, an uber modder has found out the basics of modding DOW2, so there is hope yet http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=212138&highlight=Corsix

As it stands it isn't half the game either DOW1 or COH is. If it had married the two and actually produce a blend of both games, with DOW's variety and COH's tactical depth, then it really would have been mind-blowing.

From many reports and several professional reviews the SP campaign is shaping up to be an abysmal experience. Sad. Very sad.

Really - you do not know what you are talking about and your comment is just a result of your frustration that you did not get what you want and/or just don't get this type/style of RTS game.

Ahh the blinkered fanboy, plenty of your type on Relic forums, maybe you should head over there and enthuse about a crap sequel with the rest of them.

dow 1 and company of heroes are still there to play. There's only so long before you'd have got bored with new shiny graphics anyways..

For me this is easier to get into, and pick up and play than dow 1!

I have never played dow1, but ive played COH. And this game is a lot of fun. I really like this game a lot, its taken the good bits of coh and put it in this game. Im not a fanboy of DOW, i just think its a great game.

I think people hyped this game to much to be a simple DOW 1 game with better graphics. That was never going to happen. After the sucess of COH they were going to make changes. I no this has made a lot of people angry but what can you do, relic have made the changes.

As for the base building they have taken the idea from world in conflict where you can select your units from 1 selection.

As for the factions only having four. Remeber dow 1 how many factions did that have ?? they are cleary building this game to have expansions. So more factions will come. Just like they did with DOW 1

Been playing the demo of this for a few days now and have to say i've found it fun and a bit different but I really do miss the epic battles of DOW1, where literally you could see 100 bodie sin a pile and then still have to fight another battle on the other side of the map. I understand why this game is more like COH (which by the way is another hgame i really enjoy) but they didn't have to remove all the element sof a traditional rts such as larger units or all the buildings.

If they had gone for a more balanced change keeping th best of COH and DOW1 then i would definatly be rushing out to get this, as it stands I will get it but probably not until its cheeper.

Ive never played dow1, played coh and other rts type games but it just seemed abit strange with just building troops and zerging. Im sure its a good game for some people but i doubt ill be playing it.

Just had a go on this and totally agree .... its soooooo boring :(
I spent a while trying to figure out how to build a new building, as far as i could see... you cant!? So wouldn't that make the 'Annihilation' option a bit pointless?

QUOTE]

Well the annihilation option is that you annihilate the opposition. Which you do by killing the other team (annihilating them) and their base.

That is the point of that option. Understand?
Not much a base anymore is it! I liked the fact that you could build a new base somewhere else, enemy thought they had killed you but hadn't. With this it seems like you have one building, it doesnt move, its pretty obvious where its going to be :/ Load of crap!

Ummm not a fan boy - never played any warhammer table top games, never read any of the material, never really liked the first DoW that much if I am honest. It was a good game but prefer CoH.

THAT is why I like this game - could give a fig if it was warhammer or any other hammer universe - just like it as an RTS.

Maybe you should not make assumptions mate.

It's one of many threads... all bringing up consistant and relevant points. The guy is arrogant and a tad self-important, but then again he did make the best and biggest balance mod for DOW, and created something the devs could never dream of getting right. The modders have made DOW what it is, and done more than Relic could ever dream of. DOW 2 looks set to not even give us that.

Is there a way I can tell my marines to advance to within missile launcher range and shoot from there? At the moment I tell them to advance and they also get into hand to hand combat range before they do anyhing!

Just Pre Ordered this as I'm absolutely loving the Beta!

Marines are turning out to be my fave but I'm loving not relying on building a base and just going in for all out combat. I think the eldar need to be strategically played and are not as universal as Space marines so I reckon this will become pretty competitive.
