***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

means nothing tbh looks at nether and warz !

look at the sales and people behind Dayz. you need the whole package behind you.

Look at the people once behind MySpace with all the other social networking sites that couldn't get a look in but then how quickly it all went away when Facebook started to offer a more polished alternative and their whole user-base jumped ship in what felt like the space of a few weeks...

You can never be sure of these things... Even if Dean + Co nail every aspect of this perfectly who's to say that a competitor won't eventually manage to top it. Granted by then you'd hope you'll easily have had your £20 worth and won't feel so bad about it

Do we know when the patch will be updated as mine has not updated yet :(

the patch thats out at moment is experimental servers only.

to join those and get patched you need to enable beta patches in steam. as soon as you do that your steam will auto update it.

at 5:30 something is being done .

Im no expert, but to me it seems likely to be the patch.

I mean why take the servers down for 3 hours the day before releasing a patch AND then do the same say tomorrow to install the patch....

If something important needed doing on the servers, why not just do it on the same day, rather than having 2 days with downtime.

idk, just seems more obvious to me that downtime = patch

Theres no global chat.

hardest bit in dayz is knowing where you are below is a link to the map :) if oyur near a town theres sign posts telling you what town it is, look it up on the map to get your bearings

dont trust other players.. if you have mates that have dayz get involved with them makes the game much better.

Ok thanks. Can you chat at all to players nearby? What happens when you die too? Do you lose everything like in WarZ and Nether and have to start again?

If i was Rocket and i saw this http://miscreatedgame.com/ I'd be getting a little bit worried.

Sounds like DayZ in Cryengine.....

I wouldn't be too worried, this is an alpha game we are talking about after all (DayZ), its far from the finished yet with a lot more to come, anyone developing a rival game and producing it as a finished article now or within the near future would only be at a disadvantage as time goes on due to DayZ's continual development and evolution.

This may happen in a few years once DayZ SA is finished and better established than it is at the moment, now isn't the time to start trying to produce a rival title in my opinion or to get worried if other game companies appear to be doing so.

Lol the hostility of people in this thread when anyone dares to question the developer is just ridiculous... Don't worry you'll get plenty of chances to be smug if/when the game gets to where you are so sure it will...

But I can't help but wonder if part of you didn't believe the doubters you wouldn't be so quick to try and smack down anything they say

Well when someone says they're "playing the alpha card", it's hard not to sigh. It is an alpha. It says so, not to mention it's a give away with 'early access'. They do this so people don't complain about certain aspects, including content. Clearly doesn't matter how much labelling you put on something, people will be people :D

You don't have to pay for the game when it's complete, and if you don't like the final outcome then you can take it up with Steam, they're pretty good with things like that. On the flip side it's difficult to moan about it currently as there really-is-not a lot of content to get disgruntled about :D
