***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

Well It took me long enough to get there and I didn’t want to run the risk of spawning all the way back to a random town. TBH I found it rather good, although I am sick and lost blood the thrill of breaking free and running for my life got my heart racing.
I later watched them search for me all over the town, this is all about survival after all.

Your still alive and have the chance to survive so you did the right thing, dont log out like a fanny like some suggest and die a pointless death.

Eat/drink until your energise and hydrated is bright green and your blood will start to replenish but if they fed you dodgy food you need to find some charcoal tablets as that will kill you eventually, they can spawn anywhere but make sure you check the medical building and hospitals

If your close to death one tip is put everything you have in your rucksack and hide it somewhere, you can then check the high pop areas for stores or other players willing to help you and if you do die you can get back to some of your gear (as long as the server doesnt restart)

good luck

what i can never get is there is no right way to play dayz !

you want to be a bandit go ahead you want to play nice do that . you cant say one way is wrong because you play the opposite.

the real funny thing is the people with the kill all mentality often live longest :p

the game is about survival.

I play the game how i want to but I have found that if your nice, you are the first to go!

I had a guy try gank me and my brother and when the fight turned in our favour he logged out. The **** thing is my brother died in the process because I couldn’t help him in time because I was busy trying to fend this guy off us.

I have also noticed I am not playing carefully enough and checking the surrounding areas.

I always thought that this game would be boring as hell but I have found it the complete opposite. Its so addictive!

Yeh i do like this game and for twenty quid i have already clocked 50 odd hours in, so i feel i have already got my moneys worth of it.

I have had a dude kill me while i was looting some gear, turned round and BANG dead. I jumped out my skin. Respawned and bugged out and fell out an appartment window so broke my legs. so i was crawling around and the same guy seen me, said " hey dude i broke my legs can u help" and he did and gave me a m4 with no ammo.

I think people kill on site if they notice u have gun but hey i dont mind, i just cant wait to get more content into this game as i recon it will only get better haha.

Ok, the thrill of escaping I can understand.

Haha, its a game.... I like it but I bought it for entertainment and my time is valuable to me. Spending a portion of it being pushed around and bullied by others in the game is not what I would class as a good time. I do appreciate that others may disagree and that is fine. I also find it hard to understand why there are options to torture other players but I guess some people just like to let out their inner psychopath.

Getting shot or killed in a fight is fine and fun but being handcuffed and tortured just isn't, for me at least.

Absolutely understand you not wanting to waste time with others once you get caught but I think your missing something special about this game, and that is the randomness of every encounter, yes I have been poisoned and executed but I have also had really funny and bissare moments as well.

Your right as well about people wanting to let out their inner psycopath, my problem is that I generally play either friendly or avoid contact and only kill if I have too, Im now worried that I may be a psycho in real life instead

The thing is its every man for themselves really isn’t it, I was obviously a threat because I had an axe. Nothing could have stopped me clocking them over the head and taking all of their gear which was a lot! Capturing me was the safe bet and I didn’t want to waste my time again getting to the city.

Yes they took it abit far by feeding me rotten fruit they could have taken off my gear and set me on my merry way. I would like to see how they are going to do the base building and some others but atm its worth the money like drumunsta said already clocked a lot of hours on it

Maybe on higher population servers it play a bit differently. Where I am there are very few of them though.

Maybe latter when a bit more bored I may take a look at that.

Haha. I do the same. Never had a desire to bully anyone though :).

I played this last night as my Epoch buddy was off line. You know what, I really enjoyed it, despite not understanding the ammo situation.

I was up stairs in the military building with gaol cell in it in Balota; I was trying to work out how to carry two rifles, because I found a SKS rifle with ammo in there, and I only had a few bullets for my Mosin.

I heard someone coming up the stairs so I kneeled behind the bed with my rifle trained on the door entrance. Unfortunately the player saw me before coming into the room, so he stayed outside and ordered me to put down my rifle.

Long story short, we had a hilarious stand off which lasted between 10-15 minutes. The guy was Finnish, and he was recording the incident. I knew he would shoot me despite promises to the contrary, so I wasn't going to lay down my arms. Eventually he tried to run across the doorway while shooting his shotgun, which was the prompt I needed to rush him successfully.

He was dead, I was trying to swap backpacks with his corpse when two guys entered the building. I adjusted quickly and shot one in the arm as he climbed the stairs. He ran to cover before his mate took a pop at me. He missed.

There were four players on the server and all of us were in the same building, albeit one was a corpse. I spoke with the two guys who agreed to just leave without further conflict.

I took what I could off the Finnish guy's body and logged out, but sadly I left my Mosin on the floor because I still hadn't worked out how to carry two rifles.

you can carry two but when you pick a item up youll drop the extra one each time.

i just pick the gun i am using and stick with it.

have a green mosin at moment :D

To carry two weapons you need to holster the one you're already holding, then look at the gun/weapon you wish to carry and you'll see an option to "Take weapon into hands" and now you'll carry both weapons.

But as Dg said you'll have to put one down to swap to the other etc and also interact with anything. It's a pain but can help having a long range Mosin and an assault M4 for different situations.

I learnt a big lesson today.

Everyone says 'don't trust anyone' on the game. Except new spawns, they get a let off in most cases as they claim to be novices and pose no threat. However, I have had 3 attack me and my friend today. I wouldn't mind but we are kitted out to the max.

Our first encounter was with someone who didn't speak English and ran away initially. We soon spotted him lurking behind us resulting in us turning to face him. We announced our friendly (English) nature and gave him some food following him giving us a thumbs up. The open bake beans can got lost in the grass and we spent time looking for it. From this, he began to lay into me with a axe mainly hitting at my chest and legs. I managed to raise my SKS and bang him prior to my partner unloading both barrels of his boom stick into him. This resulted in my man bleeding a lot and me having to use all at my disposal to stop the gashing wounds. Luckily enough, my friend of whom was rooting through his back pack managed to fashion me a splint and fix me up. We got on pace to our next encounter of which was a building site. Here we found 2 ruthless noobs. The first attacked my friend on the stairs with, yet again, an axe. As my friend fled off the side of the stair case the foe met his demise with a hail of SKS fire. Our second encounter on the building site of death was just after our server restarted. He ran straight at my buddy with a machete and started slicing him despite my friend posing no threat. I manage to clip him with one round before he legged it with my friend in toe; bracing an axe to give him a good whacking with his trusty fire axe.

So what have we learnt... You can't trust new spawns, they have nothing to loose so why not attack? Especially when all you need is your fists to knock someone down and do a quick steal of something deadly.

Dead without dying. Got shot at close range and was left unconscious but not before I shot my assailant. So I've got a black screen and no clue if he died. Logged out as the server was due to restart, came back in as a new spawn. Is that normal?

What server are you all on?

I'm just running around learning to survive atm, but feel like I need to join a more populated server soon.

Not played the standalone in a few months.

Is there anywere i can get up to date information on the latest patch etc?

Cheers.
