***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

Is it best to just gear up no empty servers? i try on full ones but can never find anything, i never really want to just gear on empty ones but its the only alternative? Does loot actually respawn every few hours or does it take a server restart?

I still find it fun now and then, I play breaking point too but I Find most of the time on SA is that you can actually come across some 'nice guys' Breaking point is usually just shoot on site really.

if you play as the right faction you have objectives ;)

you are punished points wise and there are leaderboards. i play as a hunter which is kill everything :p

can can play as helpful people though if you want and gain points that way.

Yes, pretty much need to do that. I don't think loot respawns yet in stable release so you need to wait for server restarts. Usually pretty easy to loot up. Just avoid electro and the airfields unless it is really quiet or you have a gun

Logging out/into low pop servers seems to be quite a common tactic - I've been in airfields on low pop servers when groups have logged in at one end, moved to the other, then logged out. I've done the same quite a few times now - it feels like cheating, but rather like wall glitching to see into buildings/through floors/onto roofs you've often got to join them to beat them (it's the reason I'm favouring Hardcore servers at the moment due to the First Person view that eliminates wall glitching).

I've now had my character wiped four days in a row when logging back in the next day to the same server. It is extremely unlikely I've been killed as I've logged out in the same room and at the same time with two others, who have both come back with all their gear. This is a terrible 'glitch'. But I still go back for more; it has a lot of potential and the PvP action is getting better as the reload action and weapon drawing appear to have been improved (but far, far from perfect) with this latest update.

Hacking (if it's the correct term) is common - three days in a row with four individuals with rounds stacked by the thousand (the record I've found is over 600,000 5.56x45 M4 rounds on one person in three separate stacks). Hacking doesn't seem to buy them skill/intelligence/ability to aim though!

right been a couple of monts so i thought id give it another go...

So i spawn in, run into a small village, stand in a field well outside it checking for players and zeds and whatnot.

Next thing I know i get the greyed 'being attacked screen' with hit noises. I'm thinking WTF there was no one anywhere near me, I do a 360 and nothing there!

again a few hits then 30 secs later a zombie appears next to me, I dispatch it and go to bandage.

Bandage is bugged and will not apply, so I try to fix with rags, again I only get the inspect option not heal. All this time I can see blood pouring from the front of me and my screen is greying out.

This game is such a load of garbage its unreal!

E: I changed server, that fixed it, however where I spawned near the NEAF there was a guy opposite me who was logging out, i.e he did the sitting position in a bunch of trees just outside the AF, I did the only honourable thing for server hoppers and put 3 in his head. This game is so borked.

So, how exactly do you distinguish between someone server hopping, and someone logging out at the end of a session?

Because I have done it before, wander to a safe place in trees 100m outside AF, log back in on another server and go looting again.

Only reason I was there was to go check out the new town to the north of it, and yes it is utterly boring to go server hopping, there is more than enough stuff to gear up without, I did it a few times just to get enough ammo to go griefing other people!

Someone at the end of their session would go for a bit more of a wander IMO, same as I had, I spawned in on my way north after going back to berezino for supplies

What you actually mean is that you've assumed he was, because you couldn't tell based on the situation you described, that he was in fact server hopping.

Correct, based on personal experience and those of other people, I assumed he was. Maybe I'm wrong and i've just been a **** but i'd lay money on it he was hopping

The reason I even said something is because I have logged out after a session in the manner you described. I'm not saying he wasn't hopping, just that you can't be sure.

The only reason I assumed he was hopping is because I have only ever logged 100m from a location with the express intent of going back there, I know you can never be sure but with the AF's being the most prolific arming up areas of the game it becomes monotonous.

There was also only 2 other people on the server, which also reinforces the fact he was loot stripping, I have been on a server before where the only other person was in the same barracks looking for guns. I dread to think what its like on full 40 man servers

Doesn't matter if he was server hopping or not, I'd have still shot him regardless.

Frankie's latest video showed just how rubbish SA is, but with him hanging out of Rocket's backside by his tongue, he wasn't very critical of it.

Would we have have grounds to exercise our statutory rights regarding this 'game', and ask for refunds from Steam?

I think Steam would probably laugh at anyone requesting a refund on a game that has plastered "It's alpha - don't buy it" warnings all over itself tbh.

You can try, but they did warn everyone in advance.

Yeah, but shops sell electrical items with a one year guarantee, but everybody SHOULD know that your statutory rights means you should get 'fair use' out of your appliance. If it breaks down 14 months from purchase, you ring them up and insist on a free repair under your statutory rights and if they don't comply you take them to court and win.

Not much of an analogy, but there's a difference between unfinished (alpha) and un-enjoyable. It's seriously rubbish, glitchy, choppy and way behind games that probably were born out of DayZ mod itself.

But that's down to personal opinion which is indicative of an unfinished product (alpha), so pretty much any legal obligation from a consumer point of view is useless.

It's like being sold a fridge but told in advance that it might not work very well but you'll get free updates over an unspecified length of time. If you're happy with that deal then you pay your £20, if not, you don't buy the game.

Hows this coming along ive left it for a month or 2 for updates/patches to some of the bugs as they were beginning to annoy me. Is it slowly getting better? Or should i wait a while longer to consider playing again? I know people will have different opinions.

I tried to play this after a few months of not having turned my PC on; unfortunately I couldn't join any servers.

I remember having lots of problems before when I used to play, no idea how to fix them though; just too buggy for me!
