***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

I've been experimental this evening and it's a mixed bag. Given that it's the first proper navmesh implementation I'm surprised it's working at all.

Things zombies do right:
Navigate correctly around fences, open doors etc.
Navigate correctly inside houses. (I had a moment at the top of a staircase where one slowly crawled around the corner, I may have needed a new pair of pants after that)

Things zombies do wrong:
Hit you through walls (~8ft strike range, I'd guess)
Randomly corkscrew and sink into the ground.

The patch seems good except random stalls from 2 - 10s depending on how quick your computer is and melee against the newly improved zombies seems to be very sketchy, poor hit registration etc. Oh and the melee bug where it stops working after a few strikes has come back in this patch, I guess they'll tweak it over the weekend or something.

thanks for that, I was tempted to try experimental over the weekend but i'll give it a few days

dont have a mindset like that. once killed you kill all. that is the way of dayz.

saying that first time i ever played i killed first person i ever met :D

My mindset is, "see someone, rrrrrruuuuuuuunnnnnnn".

The other day I was searching a hospital, and I heard someone coming in. He appeared, I said hello, he said hello, I ran. Didn't stop running until I was the next town over. :D

I wish I'd done that tbh. That character was pretty kitted out and it's going to take me a while to get back what I lost :(

Oh well, the gods of Dayz just weren't on my side last night.
