It seems tents are in the patch notes. Persistent storage is disabled until next week though.
So with Tents do they log out when you log out ?
God no, you will have to hide them really well, same as the mod.

We've been building a base for a few weeks now and finally finished off the Heli landing pad along with letter box sniper towers and various garages to store our cars, guns and items. We've also built a solid base infrastructure with access points to enable quick mobilizing to defend our base. In each defensive point we've put lock boxes with very high powered rifles to take out any enemy!
This was put to test this week, as we recently did a raid on another clans base after we found a vulnerability in their structure. We got up early in the morning and took a few chainsaws and sledge hammers, while we had a little bird circling in the air keeping overwatch and few strategically placed sniper guys.... We managed to get inside and quickly kill the players inside and steal a load of their kit. They didn't seem to be too happy about this!
They quickly retaliated by putting together a formidable squad, a black hawk, Vodnik and an armoured SUV.... This resulted in a 4 hour battle with plenty of deaths, lots of explosions and genuine lolz!!
Moral of the story...... Dayz Standalone is so far behind whats actually out there!!
I don't play either anymore but what you describe doesn't sound like Dayz.
DayZ mod
so they save to the server you left them on
don't get how something like breaking point can be up and running in months and dayz standalone takes so long for minor updates
