***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

Wouldn't surprise me if they just binned it all and went and used a new engine that is actually designed for this type of game. Melee combat on arma has never and will never work well.
 
So does this rocket numpty realise or care that thousands of people who bought his game think he's a bit of a con artist and are not happy with the state of the product he put out ? Has he ever responded to all the people who rightly **** him off for being one of the worst and slackest devs ever ? Or is he just a complete ***t ?

He just seems like some chancer to me who had a good idea for a mod but ultimately lacked the skills/talent to actually pull it off. There is just something about him which makes me think he's a bit of a tit.

Below is what CAN be achieved on the Private Shard:

Password protect the server
Operate a white list (using BEC)
Ban/Kick trouble makers
Define and enforce server gameplay rules (eg: DayZRP, PvE only, etc)

Below is what CAN NOT be achieved on the Private Shard:

Access or modify the base game configuration (amount of loot, amount of dynamic server events, vehicles (when they are implemented), etc)
Violate the naming convention declared in the hosting rules (these will be updated to reflect the new private shard capabilities)
Have access to the database itself
Operate any 3rd party “Admin tools” aside from the approved BEC (BattlEye Extended Controls)
Access debug logs (currently these are unavailable for both user privacy, and performance)
Exceed current maximum player limits per instance (40, as of the time of the writing of this status report)

I am glad to see you have not completely given up on this, and see that while progress is slow (I admit this), things are moving for the better.

Experimental servers are currently testing 50 player at the moment, and I am sure as code gets improved, they will push this up until the server can't take any more.

Personally, I don't understand the need for vehicles. At the moment, the only need to go from A to B is to collect loot from B which is sparse at A. Currently, there is no real need for the journey from A to B to be 2 minutes rather than 15.
If they implement safe zones, like walled cities, I can see vehicles being used to pick up new spawns from the coast and bring them to the safe zone so they can get some kit without hordes of zombies attacking. Or if a safe zone suddenly got over-run, maybe use a bus to get everyone out quickly (a la Dawn of the Dead).
Otherwise a vehicle is just a good way to bring attention to you from hunters or zombies.

If you have reasons for vehicles, please let me know.
 
i like vehicles as groups often have them and bases, i play dayz to murder people i am 110 percent bandit.

with barricading and vehicles coming soon it means ill be clan group hunting again = fun . :cool:

Because a lot of the fun times I remember from the mod were when my squad was getting and repairing vehicles, riding in vehicles (party bus!) or flying around in helicopters for a laugh.

The thrill you got when you're flying down the road in a bus and a jeep comes around the corner towards you and everyone piles out trying to shoot the others first was insane.

Gameplay & fun comes before absolute realism.
 
How does this game still suck after nearly a year or so?

I'm confused.

I played it again recently and it doesn't feel like much has changed at all aside some new hats guns ragdoll death that is buggy and the zombies being stronger and more annoying cause they are buggy.... it feels like major game bugs are not being fixed and they just add some more hats.... I know i'd rather play a smooth game with 1 hat and 1 gun rather than a buggy piece of crapp with a 100 guns. Servers are still 40 people max as well so the game is still a ghost town.

Honest question, are they trolling? just an atrocious game with a terrible dev team imo.

I think this game will never be done. OR it's at least going to take 3-5 years.
