Dayz Standalone - BETA

Haven't touched this game in so long, there is a big reluctance in me giving it another go as well.. it's just a broken game that I doubt will ever see the light of day.

as much as a i get your be burned feeling for early access. i know i have that bad taste in my mouth from dayz sa.dont put pubg in the same basket.they seem to be getting it right a great game.nothing like the clown shoe operation of the dayz squad. its 4 years this December since alpha build lol.always new engine always something else but its never any better or any good. some how they managed a simple idea even more complicated that it needed to be.

the funny thing is they removed rocket cause he couldn't do much apart from mod but his basic mod was the entire success of the game.also if a simple mod is achieved by a guy who cant do much what does that say about a whole studio who cant make a game ? comedy gold.

Weren't you the one that offered to refund me?

I am going to bite on this now I think.

I deliberately held off as alpha was not my bag.

Beta is finally around the corner.

I miss DayZ.

Come on lover, show me some new moves :D

just buy arma 2 for like 2 pence and go play the old mod.still people playing it and costs next to nothing and the whole reason we all played it.

They'd have to pull the biggest come back in history with a huge marketing ploy!

Is that fair to say for a game in "Alpha" though? I did not buy into Early Access alpha as for me, the mod was a mess and I expected Standalone to have it's issues, I cannot say I expected the timescale though, it has been a long journey.

We will know more when the game hits 0.63 Beta I guess.

Am I right in thinking they changed engine late on into development? I know they were using an Arma 2.5 engine (A fork on Take on Helicopters) but now has a proprietary engine? That has to be commended in some ways as it is by no means the "easy option". Most independent developers do not use a proprietary engine for for various reasons, time being one of them but sometimes, "off the shelf" engines just do not do what you want your game to do, PUBG, I am looking at you.

The timescale could work in their favour from a marketing standpoint as enough time as elapsed for people to think it is a new concept, we are talking a whole new generation since the mod was a success.

Is there actually an ETA for beta now?

2018 :D

From everything I can see, I would expect 0.63 to release on experimental before summer?

What with the console release to, things need to pickup pace and I expect they will shift more developers to it as it becomes their next big revenue stream as I expect Arma 3 product to be "feature complete" this year with work on Dayz being a priority then shifting back to Arma 4 to then work towards an Arma 4 release around 2½/3 years from now?

Traditionally, BIS have long development times (Another reason why I held off from Alpha in DayZ), they are a small dev. Sure, the 4 years+ for DayZ is long BUT relative to their other projects, is consistent :D

The decision to change engine is what screwed them but was such a brave decision and the game will benefit in the long term.

im not going to spoil it but if you feel a bit down today or need cheering up go read the latest status report....i havent laughed so much for a long time.its like a monty python sketch .

:D

I purchased Dayz on day one and my god it was a buggy mess but so much fun ,i stopped playing after one update made it even worse after putting over 200 hours in and never went back to it until i tried it again back in december and its still a bug ridden mess . Lets hope the beta does something good as the concept is fantastic but the execution terrible .

The current state of the build, although fun and quite consistent, is still a bit unstable. And what I mean by unstable? In the worst gunfights with large numbers of players and looting, we can still see at least up to 10 different crashes averaging in up time of less than an hour.

coming up on 5 years in early access people. Still no beta, still not anywhere near what was advertised/promised.
