DCS: A-10C Warthog (first screens!)

Connection to the ED master server is required for multiplayer and multiplayer alone, and is used for the server browser, and hopefully in time persistant pilot stats etc. It is exactly the same master server than runs the server browser in FC2 or Black Shark, and in the time since those sims were released has only gone down for a short period a couple of times while ED do upgrades of maintenance.

Did you not understand what I just posted ? or are you deliberatly trying to decieve people

FC2.0 and DCS Black Shark , master server goes down you can still connect to mate via IP , master server goes offline .. nothing happens.
DCS A-10C , master server is un-contactable you are screwed , games ends or you cannot start one

This has been pointed out to ED and there are looking at MAYBE extending that 30 second window.
He should just remove it altogether

If you want fancy games stats etc , then as each player disconnects from a game then
let the client connect to the master server and upload my stats

You dont need a constant connection for that ... unless ED thinks his code is so buggy that the likelyhood of a player making it to the end without crashing out is low ?

Ok I am now getting the "hang" of black shark, all I need to learn is how to target the enemy and lock on missiles. And mastering the flight model of course.

I was wondering what is the sense of speed like in warthog, as when the hud in bs says im doing 250 km/h, I cant help but feel I'm moving at a snails pace. I know its a slow paced game and not a HAWX style game, but do you feel in a10 that youre moving at a considerable pace?

Have been looking forward to getting this. Just have to wait a few weeks so I can pick up the TM HOTAS Warthog then I'll be getting the game at the same time. Looks fantastic.

Some decent fixes in patch
Sadly tho the Datalink is still broken in multiplayer
oh and the silly master server requirement for all multiplayer modes is still present

I'm using a logitech extreme 3d pro and its cheap and cheerful :)

Great stick for newcomers to flight sims I would say, 12 buttons, twist rudder and a throttle lever so you can play any flight game with it.

If youre going to be spending large amounts of time playing flight sims I would choose something more expensive, but this is a great casual/amateur level option.

Yeah for new comers to flight sims, any stick should do really, just to get the feel. No point going out and spending a load of money when a few weeks down the line you're totally bored with flight sims.

I'm going to be upgrading to the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog in the next week or two, waiting for stock to come in. Will be quiet an upgrade, I'm still using the Microsoft SideWinder Precision 2, got that when it came out, in the year 2000! hahah. Still doing me good, been using it since FS98 :D.

Was going to get a Saitek X52 Pro a few years ago, just never got around to it, lost time to spend time on sims, so didn't bother. Now I have more time, I could really do with an upgrade lol.

I have the same stick and it is more than enough for Warthog. This is what I use............

I use the 6 buttons on the Left as Modifier buttons so that ......

Button 1 = Cannon
Button 2 = Weapon Release
Button 3 = Nvgs
Button 5 = NWS
Button 4 or 6 = China Hat

Edit:- to make it clearer, Buttons 7-12 are on the base of the Joystick, 1-6 are on the stick.

Hat = Slew
Button 7 + Hat = Trim
Button 8 + Hat = Coolie Hat
Button 9 + Hat = DMS
Button 10 + Hat = TMS
Button 12 + Hat = CMS
Button 7 + Button 2 = Master Mode cycle
Button 7 + Button 3 or 4 = Zoom
Button 7 + Button 5 or 6 = Speed Brakes
Button 8 + Button 4 = Autopilot
Button 8 + Button 3 or 5 = Boat Switch
Button 9 + Button 3, 5 or 6 = Pinkie switch
Button 10 + Button 3, 5 or 6 = Mic Switch
Button 12 + Button 2 = CMS Z-axis

This is from memory so I may have left one or two things out.

Nate

I have a Thrustmaster T.16000M. I haven't got around to custom mapping controls to its buttons yet apart from weapons and the camera.

I was thinking of getting a stick with a throttle stick too, but what I really want is TrackIR
