De-lidded 3770k!!

Very nice. Have you been able to push the frequency up as a result?

had a quick go but i think i have a problem with my ram, this happened before the de-lid, keep getting irql_not_less_or_equal, which apparently relates to ram, have ran memtest once but no errors. got some spare corsair kicking about so i'm gonna try that

In theory it should be yes, though I would imagine you stand a chance of damaging the die which = dead cpu :p

Btw, you have balls of steel :D

thx for the screenies, not the 1st time ive seen it done but always interesting to see other peoples results
heres hoping haswell doesnt need DIY :(

It can, but IMO its another pointless exercise that could result in a dead CPU if you're not careful.

Lapping may give another 2-3c I would say at best.

Probably not worth it then.
Can i set cores individually, does that help or is it all down to the voltage applied as a whole?

You can turbo by core yes, iirc it requires less voltage, seen quite a few use it to get the best out of single threaded apps.

Crushed core, dead chip.

Best cooling performance is to go naked. It should allow you to reach similar clock speeds and temperatures to SB.

Edit: You need to make sure your cooler can compensate for the difference in height.

Remember doing the same on the old athlons, not for the nervous.

What was done on the old Athlon's? you're talking about the ones with the 4 round spongy pads right? I thought they were already nekkid. The core was so tiny as it was.

So I assume the fact AS5 is capacitive doesn't cause a problem?

Did you mean conductive? According to the AS5 website AS5 is actually really non conductive. This shocked me to learn since it nearly killed my X800 PRO. :p

http://www.arcticsilver.com/as5.htm It's on there.

Question: Is it hard to break through at first? I was thinking of doing this with a safety razor blade. My feather blades are very sharp, is it like cutting through metal or is it a bit softer?
