De-lidded 3770k!!

It's hard to take a photo of the whole socket, as it's so small my lens struggles to focus on the whole thing. I have pictures of the rest of it but that all looks fine I will upload in a sec.

I don't think my pins are bent anymore, look's normal but still won't boot just repeated beeping at start for about 10 seconds or so then off.

Thanks for the help, I'll give it another go later I think, running out of TIM though lol. My chip wasn't that bad, 1.29V for 4.5GHz 73C under Prime95, but was too tempting to get those temps under 70C. :p If I did it again, I'd definitely use a stanley knife blade only. I also wouldn't clean any of the black sealant off the PCB, only the IHS.

For now I have my trusty Q6600 3.2, 8800GTX \o/.

Find it a bit frustrating, I can see the copper underneath the PCB, but it doesn't look damaged. Guess I won't call it quits yet. If anyone wants to have a look at it I can post it to you.

I found that a VERY thin line of TIM was the best way to apply it to the top of the Die. Took my IHS off just now and it was absolutely perfect.

Cheers Wazza, I was going to ask about that. Trust me your info and I'll probs send it out Monday. Which case you waiting for?

Using this Q6600 rig, I could never go back from using an SSD, no way in hell.

So still no joy brian??
Did you use magnifying glass when trying to sort pins?? They need to be nigh on perfect.
Take a zoomed in picture of the nick in the pcb, make sure its clear, then use photoshop or similar to zoom in even more. Just to check theres no break.

I used a teaspoon to get rid of the black gunk, but you can get products which will dissolve sealants.

I was expecting more 5-8C but it's still better, the stuff under the IHS was dry and cheap looking, it came straight off.

No joy, I will get a magnifying glass tomorrow! The pins look spot on and I can see them with my eyes, I struggle with long sight not the close up for some reason. Magnifying glass will come in handy sometimes though so I will pick one up. I am hoping it's the CPU now tbh as I can't afford a motherboard replacement as well. :D

The very last pin on the bottom to far right is not in line, i just put a ruler on the screen and its out.

Yeah I agree, I will get the magnifier and have a look tomorrow, it's too hard to do it without one. Looking at the back of the cpu it look's like it would meet up but maybe just slightly out. :)
