De-lidded 3770k!!

Feel bad quoting people lol.

"I am unsure if these will go on offer soon, we have weekly offers running from Wednesday to Wednesday so it maybe worth checking then."

Completely fair, it is the weekend after all. I'll give em a call tomorrow fingers crossed. :)

It's a Malay 1.1950V, I'm more drawn to the 2500K due to the price of it and the fact that it is soldered. All I need is 3570K 4.5 performance really. Don't think I'll ever SLI/Xfire.

Also you are welcome to test it, email me if you are up for that. :) I think it's kaputt but worth a try. :)

Tempted to get another 3570K but don't know if I'll get a costa or not.

Do you think I could order one, look through the side to see if it's Costa and return if not? Without opening the box etc, so they can resell as new? I don't understand how people online can just order stuff, try it, and send it back used. It doesn't seem right. Wouldn't all the Costa ones end up in the US?

Yeah, I asked 5UB if they can check costa rica but as they've just moved I think it's a bit much to ask. I'll try wait a couple of weeks. :) Sending chips back and forward is a waste of their time, and both parties money and I'm not up for that. :D

:D I'm fed up of fiddling with it. Going to order a 3570K now I hope I get a good one, my last met my expectations, but I wan't a really good one this time. :p

Tempted by the 2500K's but why go for older tech with no PCI 3.0 and slightly less impressive IMC. :)

Teaspoon is good yes, I used the back of a teaspoon for cleaning the adhesive off the metal IHS though because didn't want to scratch it.

Definitely only Stanley or very solid blade for cutting the IHS off. Flexible blade might cut the PCB, as I found out.

Safety razor blade, a very sharp Feather one. Unfortunately I think due to it being so thin and felixble the corner of it cut into the PCB despite how gentle I was. I gave up using it and changed to an old Stanley and it was off within seconds and much easier to control the Stanley blades depth of cutting and angle too..

I think if I did it again, with a Stanley it would be hassle free. Just won't try again. :p If I did it again I'd use some sealant to hold the IHS in place though, just because.

Hold it in place?? You mean once you had changed the tim?

Do you think the pcb damage was caused when you wiggled in the Stanley blade? Is this the corner you started on? Just wondering if a blunted Stanley blade might be better for the removal once you've cut through the sealant with the razorblade.

Just a suggestion for when you are de-lidding your new one :p
