De-lidded 3770k!!

Oh thanks for the interest, I was just down at the shop buying a magnifying glass. :D

I don't think I can get them straighter than that, I'm going to reapply the TIM and electrical tape to the CPU then give it another shot. :)
 
Aye, the bottom one looked a bit bent to me so i went to straighten it lol, made it worse but luckily it bent back. :D

Going to try get the cpu sorter now. :)
 
The glass part on top isn't very durable, using cotton buds and lint free paper it's showing some abrasions which is a bit worrying but I don't believe it will do any harm?
 
Hm, didn't work! Guess I will order a new chip. :( I don't suspect the board as a problem currently, it is reporting something isn't right, is powering my 200mm fan, and also my gpu fans are spinning. Question now is, 2500K, or 3570K. :p

Out of this I have got:

  • Experience
  • Sweet magnifying glass
  • Less confidence with modding stuff
  • Cool keyring
 
I'd probably say 2500K, if you got another 3570K you might get that temptation to de-lid it again. Or, you could save up and buy something a little better. :D
 
I don't think there is better for me really, I don't do anything CPU intensive. The most taxing thing my PC does is gaming. :p

I don't like how the IHS slides about on top of the die when it's been delidded, prefer the stock state, so will probably get a 2500k as it's cheaper and soldered?

Only thing that separates the two for me is PCI 3.0 which I don't know if the 7970 utilizes anyway?

- Appears there is no performance difference with single card, maybe if I had another 7970, which can't fit in anyway thanks to the Accelero. :D

No reason to have PCI 3.0 really for a single card is there? I might as well get a SB which I won't be tempted to delid. :p Can pickup a 2500K for £164, sent ocuk a message asking if they got it on offer soon because rather order from ocuk, but guess it's the weekend or they aren't interested lol. :p

Haha fair enough, I did get a reply from 5UB at 10pm just checked it. :) I'll wait till later in the week and see if they got any offers on.
