De-lidded 3770k!!

Thank you.

You can actually use a thin piece of plastic to do the job the sealant isn't tough at all. It's just silicon based I guess.

The razorblade was all over the place, was a disaster, really needs to be a solid blade or plastic. I started the cut with the razor blade and I think it got it after that, because it's bendy and hard to control.

Stanley is best because it doesnt bend, and will stay flat against the PCB, you can also just gently wiggle it through the sealant avoiding the die.

If I get a really blinding chip I will be tempted to delid it. :(

Waiting for a response from someone, because I'm not sure how OCUK feel about the 14 day DSR for high volt chips, I can't bare to have anything over 1.1950VID. :p Need one fast as the hard drive on my back up pc is ruined and manages to lose vital windows files every day. :)

Do you think the pcb damage was caused when you wiggled in the Stanley blade? Is this the corner you started on? Just wondering if a blunted Stanley blade might be better for the removal once you've cut through the sealant with the razorblade.

Just a suggestion for when you are de-lidding your new one :p

If you were too do it, definitely not a blunted blade.
It is very risky to attempt, i did it as my temps were high and its going under water so the risk to me was one i was prepared to take. On air i am able to gain another 100hz, obviously hoping for more once cooled properly. Imo unless you need the extra speed it is not worth the risk, most ivy's will manage 4.4Ghz which is more than enough, like i have said before anything more is just bragging rights.
If you can afford to buy a new cpu then fine give it a go, if not DON'T do it.

I used 2133MHz 9-11-11-21 1.5V 1.500 PLL? and 1.070V VTT I think at load (with the F8 BIOS, wasn't stable without 1.65V until F8 BIOS for me).

About to order my new 3570K, and guess what - Overclockers have put it on offer, great timing. :D So pleased. 2500K is so cheap now, makes it tempting lol. £155 bargain. £168.99 for a retail 3570K is how it should be, ordering now. :D

Mine was very happy at 4.5GHz, but the jump in volts from 4.4 was silly.

Full load Prime95 I was getting 73C on the hottest core, the rest were all under 69C. IBt was 81-83C. 50-60c for the PWM temps. I love the UP4. :D Strangely turning up and down my fans on D-14 really only made 1-2C difference from 900-1300 RPM.

Ordered 2 now, fingers crossed lol. Also a new tube of Gelid! :D

I will endorse their AF 140 fans, they are brilliant. :) The PSU's look good, I'm not a big fan of anything else though, be it keyboards or cases.

I'm not sure, between £200 and £250 but would depend if I could trust the buyer really. There is only one 3770K on fleabay at the moment, I expect that will go for about £200+ and it isn't delidded, if you were to sell and documented it I'm sure someone would pay a premium.

Very very tempted to de-lid my i7 3770k as im currently hitting 80 degrees under a custom water loop @ 4.5ghz and was hitting 92 degrees at 4.6ghz and that's with pretty low voltage :(

Gutted for you Brian and its put me off a bit but I still keep thinking about it, I have brand new Stanley blades or a full craft set of scalpels I can use, hmmmm.....
