it will do it just fine !!!!!!!!!

edit: your talking about a motherboard swap too if you wanted to do that. but there is no need ..

Cool!

I wouldn't need a new mobo because my x800xt is a pci-e but either way if I can avoid a new card then great!

I think the dell site or another I saw it on said I'd need an x850 or the latest drivers which I've got.. great news!

not got round to testing it fully yet, got xbox and ps2 component cables here tomorow, so shall try some 720p/1080i xbox games on it and if my usa copy of gt4 arrives tommorow as well then shall try that in 1080i mode as well.

btw wots the best way to conect an ntl box to this? scart to svhs cable?

and mr latte you were on about divx/svcd files on this screen via a dvd player. i use my xbox with xbmc as dvd player will that be good enuff for testing for you?

Well my monitor has just been delivered!
A was really worried as the box was very badly damaged - but no damage to monitor.

So far I have not seen any dead pixels, colours look great to me, no buzzing and the stand is holding the monitor perfectly - no dropping or sagging.

The thing is perefect and worth every penny - makes my 1901FP look tiny

Right am off to play WOW now. Very, Very happy customer

FULLSCREEN VIDEO QUALITY?
Im very interested to hear how well this scales particular with compressed video when ran fullscreen as typical video resolutions - the panels default is if anything upto 7x greater than some video which is a lot of scaling.

Can we see up close screen shots of DIVX SVCD DVD ran fullscreen at default res then compared in lower modes were less scaling is required.

Does fullscreen video look better at a lower res, just Im curious to know has anyone tried different settings like the 1200+ or 1300+ widescreen modes common with LCD tvs.

Mmmm, this is all very subjective and difficult to photo but here goes. I can't detect any noticeable difference in quality for DVD or compressed video between the native resolution 1920x1200 and something smaller like 1280x720. (be warned these photos are 600-700k each)

DVD at 1920x1200 (native)
DVD at 1280x720

DivX3 640x360 665bitrate at 1920x1200 (native)
DivX3 640x360 665bitrate at 1280x720

Will be interested to see Yaka's opinion. To me, all scaled video looks crud on an LCD screen anyway. The jaggedness, coupled with poor bitrates (DivX, Freeview/Cable/Sky etc), scaling, and the sheer physical dimensions of the screen means it's going to shove any bitrate artifacts in your face, hard. Even HD stuff starts to look iffy if you blow it up large enough.

Another proud owner jumping in :)

No dead pixels but got an off level stand. It's about half a cm lower on the right hand side of screen. After taking the base stand apart and some carefull inspection, it is clear to see that it's the rotating fixing head that is the culprit...No easy way to really sort it, more to do with manufacturing proccess going a little off centre.
Dell are sending me a replacement stand and monitor 3-5 days and collecting my faulty one a week later...I`m obviously keeping my existing panel because it's perfect(no dead pixels/back bleeding etc).

Anyway to cut a long story short, I love it!
Fired up WOW at 1900X1200 and was well impressed; I've been using a 2001FP for some time now, and noticed that there is less tearing when panning around fast in any given view with the mouse with Vsync off; the 2001fp suffered more and you really had to have Vsync on.

What a perfect size the 24" WS makes and I am also impressed that it scales pretty well at 1600X1200 in some of my flight sims.

Thumbs up and highly recommended so far.

Yea, I think it's just there Policy or maybe to play things safe(is the customer sure it's a stand or panel problem) the chap at tec support gave me a collection date for the 30th this month and a replacement within3-5 working days from today; so I`m just going to take the stand out when the gear turns up and keep my existing panel.

I could not live with the slight tilt; like seing a picture/painting slight tilted...Does not bother some though

I`ll let you know how it turns out.

I might just speak to the tec chap again and make him see sense, but either way I should be ok

thanks mate , if you get a tech guy to look at it ask them what can be done to fix it please :) thinking about stuffing something under the right hand side of the stand to level it up

Maybe stick and extra few antil slip pads over the existing ones on the right side hand side of foot stand...seems that the tec guys are not to savy about this problem and it might be better to post on the Dell forums for an answer. Let me have a quick check and post back.

this monitor sounds the dogs danglies, and i think i can put up with a slight slant, but my question is, does the monitor have the VESA compatible mount so i could stick it straight onto the wall???

Will be great to see someone fully demostrate the inputs and PIP of this monitor, via the consles.

Use a PC or Im sure you can set your XBMC to 720p but really I just want to hear user opnions regarding quality via normal TV DVD and typical Quicktime WMV files when ran fullscreen. Is a lower res better for these than running native?

Appreciate any help
BTW GT4 will look smart in 1080i on these and if you can Id recommend you chase the USA release of F Zero in 480p via component and freeloader. Most Xbox games are nice in 480p as for SC II in 720p its only 4:3 but the intro looks great.

Id love to see Iguraga in portrait mode and stretched or any old school shooters, have you got Mame or Final Burn on Xbox? would love to see a new thread and some time spent on these tests.

This display is not only a Pc gamers dream but by far the best option for dual PC/Console purposes, if anything better than many more expensive LCD Tvs.
