Dell S2716DG - Dells first G-sync

I've arranged a return. Amazon said it was version 1 and priced at £490 because of it. They've arranged a replacement and said it'll be a newer version at no extra cost.....Fingers crossed.

I do notice they have two separate listings of the same monitor... nothing in the listings themselves to differentiate any version number though, which one was it you ordered? One listing has ARK as the image on the screen, the other has knights in armor (for honor perhaps)...

Hi all, just ordered one of these. I currently have a 24" 1080p BenQ monitor, which is very mediocre and definitely nothing special. Been wanting a 1440p monitor for a while, although this was somewhat of an impulse buy. But since buying a laptop with a nice 15.6" 1080p display, coming back to my PC is awful now after getting used to the laptop!

Quite excited about getting it now, I see from reading this thread they're not without their problems, but I'm hopeful that I get lucky.

And if anyone notices I've bought a G-sync monitor and I have AMD cards, I am planning on upgrading to a GTX 1070 fairly soon :)

There are some great prices for some 1070's aswell at the moment, around £350 for a really solid model

Yeah they seem pretty reasonable. Going to take my chances on selling my 280x's on an auction site as they should fetch £200 looking at sold items. I think it's the best time to upgrade while they're still worth a fair bit.

Just taken delivery of mine :) Not got it out the box yes as I'm at work. But it's an October 2016 A04, which is the latest revision I believe?

I'm not sure which one I ordered as I'd set it up to alert me if the price dropped. It was no hassle sending it back and getting it replaced anyway. Is it only version 1 that had the issues?

Sorry, answered above......

But I've just looked on my Amazon history and it was the one with the armour.

So, how is it ? Pictures ? :)

First impressions are great. Felt like a very high end product straight out the box. The thin bezels are lovely and it's heavy. Been playing with colour profiles, but not managing to find the right setting just yet. Not helped by the lack of colour options in the AMD control panel compared to what nvidia offer, but that should soon change when I make the switch.

144hz is amazing, even just in Windows, everything feels so fluid.

Can't wait to get a new GPU to get the most out of it.

Is this your 1st 144hz & 1440p ? Have you had an IPS before ? I only ask as I've read a lot of people are fine with the colour over IPS.
I keep looking at this monitor as my Hazro is getting long in the tooth & I have an itch lol.

I've come from a office spec 24" 1080p60 screen, and yes my first venture into 1440p144. Never had an IPS screen, although my laptop has a PLS screen. I'm pretty sure once I have an Nvidia card, and I'm able to fully copy tried and tested settings it'll be ok.

I moved from a very good 1440p/60 IPS to the Dell. The colours are excellent and I was hard pressed to spot the difference when the IPS was not sat next to the TN. The out of the box gamma is way off though and does need correcting via an ICC profile or the GPU control panel.

However, there's no getting away from the viewing angles being much more narrow, and of course TN gamma shift. For me gsync was worth the trade off, but something to be aware of.
