Dell S2716DG - Dells first G-sync

What is the problem with it? revisions after A00 mostly just solves some problems with underlying sleep/OSD functionality and possibly some tweaking to the anti-glare coating as later ones appear less matt and are a little less bleached looking out the box.

Really struggling with the colours at the moment. an ICC profile has helped a lot but at the moment it just looks washed out

that is just TN for you.

compared to VA or IPS the colours are completely washed out. i've went from 2 IPS panels to this plus a VA. both of them look terrible compared to IPS for colours. however gsync is supersmooth at 144hz.

i imagine an IPS panel capable of 144hz gsync would cost around £1K+ in 27"

If it is an A00 panel that will make some difference as it seems they adjusted the anti-glare coating, etc. in later revisions - the Asus ROG was the same the first couple of revisions were really bleached but at the end of the day it isn't going to make night and day difference.

With my settings I've got decent amount of contrast and saturation - it lacks the deep detail of the IPS beside it but its good enough for gaming and most daily use I certainly wouldn't say it was terrible.

EDIT: I also use a LED bias strip (proper one not a cheap ebay/amazon special) with mine to bring up the perception of blacks - they aren't too bad without it but it greatly improves the perception of them with it.

It may be that I'm spoiled perhaps by the ips goodness. Just for gaming Im ok with it. The company are getting more stock next week and have suggested theyll find an A04 and swap it out

The ViewSonic XG2703-GS can be had for £600 at the moment (£100 more than the Dell), with the added fun of the panel lottery thrown in for nothing.

yeah i was sort of talking if dell were to make one. it would cost a fortune.

monitors are stupidly priced atm. as the market is too niche for these bigger higher end stuff.

Completely agree. I only bit the bullet on a Viewsonic as the announcement that the new generation of 27"/IPS/4K/HDR monitors will retail for $2,000 (i.e. £2,000) shows manufacturers are quite happy with how their gaming monitors are selling and prices will not be coming down significantly for a long time (if ever).

I'm using an Antec soundscience one IIRC designed for HDTVs - its a touch small for my liking but works well enough though could be better. Seems to be a bit of a shortage of the better ones at the moment.

Still having to go back into nvidia control panel after playing games (ESO, BF1 and Titanfall 2 tried so far). Is there a way to stop this happening otherwise I'm going to send it back.

Posted at same time! Not using a profile, mainly the settings from your earlier post.

The NCP settings weren't reset but the colours were all washed out and I had to go back to the NCP to move the gamma pointer and then it was fine.

After doing some more rooting around it looks like it's a problem with the W10 Creators Update. There's several threads on Reddit and the nVidia forums about it. The only suggestions so far are to disable the game mode and disable full screen optimisation on the game's exe, I've tried both of these but still get the gamma error. It's weird though cos I never had this problem with my previous monitor. Maybe this will help someone else having the same problem.

Creator's update seems to have a lot of issues - I just had a really weird one on one of my tablets where the control panel was mostly jumbled up heh.

hi all question regarding calibration of the s2716dg .Mine is an A03 revision have set it up as per looking online posts and it reasonable picture wise. But has anyone used a "color munki" or other calibration device and managed to improve the screen setup.

If you know what you are doing with colour calibration or know someone with experience then you can get better results - if not you probably won't get any better results than trying to do it by eye following people's recommendations online. Although its a bit easier these days with the wizards, etc. that come with calibration devices.

I think thats what I have. My A04 revision coming tomorrow and I've boxed up this one ready to go. Didnt realise how bad my U2515H wa sin comparison lol

Just a thought, I've not been using the included display port cable. I'm using a rainforest one which is display port 1.2 compliant. Is this ok for 144hz at 1440p?
