Dell S2716DG - Dells first G-sync

There is a delivery date of 4th December on those screens according to the description.

Yes we are holding the price down, DELL have promised me 200 more units at the promotional price, so we are leaving pre-orders open, but I can tell you now out of the 200 incoming 80 are pre-sold.

These things are flying off the shelf. :)

Was the deal of the sale for me Gibbo so i can understand why they are flying out, would be interested to know how many like myself were lured in by the monitor and walked out with a nice new GPU to go with it also :)

I have mine ordered :) looking forward to it, Just hope my 980 is manly enough to cope with everything still high/ultra.

Mine says Order in process with a delivery method of "other" hope all is OK

yes, i just don't get how a 27" can be lower at it its highest point than a 24" at its lowest height, the 27" has to be higher even if its set as low as it can go surely. dunno if that even makes sense

Dunno about the Dell but I have the Asus TN Swift and was using the BenQ XL2420T before it and had to go back to it for a bit while RMAing my Swift and the XL2420T isn't even close - the Swift has way more natural looking colours. While obviously it doesn't have the viewing angles or saturation of the IPS but it doesn't look out of place beside my Dell U2913WM IPS (which is generally regarded as having very good image quality) whereas the XL2420T just looked hideous in comparison to the Dell.

Might get one then as I don't want IPS glow etc, It would infuriate me, Will sell the BenQ to fund a little of this.

The default gamma is ridiculously high on mine, so I've amended it in Windows (first time I've had to do that), but otherwise very happy. It looks great.

I can't believe side by side with IPS the Dell is going to be that impressive? It's the same panel as the Swift isn't it, and I've not seen anyone who's actually experienced IPS say that it was as good or even close, regards colour saturation and uniformity? There's ALWAYS going to be a compromise, simply because it's TN. Of course when you have horrendous glow and bleed on IPS, TN will win every time, but all things being equal, TN simply can't compete.

Both of the Swifts I've had have been way better for uniformity than a lot of people have talked about with the darker top band only really noticeable from extreme viewing angles.

Its not going to be as good as an IPS none the least colour saturation and black detail are way off but unlike most TNs you can sit one beside an IPS without it being plain offensive in contrast - close in this case is relative.

I own x2 dell U2410 IPS monitors and a Dell 2713 IPS monitor and I say the colours on my TN swift are really good compared to them...

I don't think it looks much different.

Was about to pull the trigger on this monitor but, I like to watch TV Shows and Movies a lot on the PC in my chair, So I'm thinking I shall wait for the ultimate monitor instead, 120+hz, 4k, VA panel, I don't think 1440p is any good with TV shows / Movies as I don't think any is native at that.

I have a BenQ XL2420t 144hz the now, The Colours are horrible but it's very fast and I play a lot of CS GO/ FPS games, Almost like I need the best of both worlds, Fast, Great Colour, High HZ.

Any clue when I could expect the specs that I said? :p

Absolutely loving my screen. Finalyy got round to setting it up last night and managed to play a few games on it.

League of Legends looks like its had a HD update done to it on this screen. Looks amazing and so smooth. Also Phantom Pain and SWTOR looked beautiful. Can't beleive how much of a difference G-Sync makes.

Didn't see one bit of tearing and I'm only running 2 x 670s in SLi, was thinking they might be a little underpowered to play at such a high rez but they seem to be coping OK. Only drawback is that it sems 120Hz is maximum for a 670.

Think I'll be saving the pennies for a new GPU once the new range of Nvidia cards come out.

Really chuffed with my purchase especially at the price OCUK were selling it. Well worth it.

Took the plunge and ordered the PG279Q. Seems like a gamble but I'm intrigued to see the differences between that and the Dell. Strangely the backlight bleed I had on this monitor appears to be greatly reduced now, and with the colour profile from TFT Central this monitor really does look great. Running 12 / 65 for Brightness and Contrast and 97 / 97 / 94 RGB.

Now that more and more people are buying this monitor (and posting their experiences both here and on other forums) it does seem that the QC for this model is superior to anything Asus / Acer are currently offering. Relatively few seem to be going back, and the people who do return them seem to get a good second one.

I'll have a day or two to compare the S2716DG and PG279Q before having to make my choice as to which one I keep. I'll pop up my thoughts in case anyone is trying to decide between the two.
