Dell S2716DG - Dells first G-sync

I'm impressed with mine, I did realise after playing BF4 I was at my old refresh rate and size! Doh! :p
Lol, done that myself a few times now. I tend to drop my swift to 120Hz for desktop use, but thankfully when i enter a game it go's to 144Hz automatically. At idle on 144Hz the gpu sits at 900mhz ono as opposed to 135mhz on a lower refresh rate.

At 144hz my 980Ti downclocks.

Playing with this for a while now.

OK, it's a TN so the colours are a bit on the cool side, even after calibration. Its something we just have to live with.

The anti glare coating isn't great, particularly against a while background. This is me coming from a glossy IPS, which is the other extreme. However, generally the coating isn't noticeable during most gameplay scenarios.

The panel is very, very fast. Gsync+1440p+144hz+3ms is a sight to behold. Played a bit of Batman Arkham Knight last night and it felt very, very nice (even allowing for the problems that game has).

Its not perfect but probably the best bang for buck premium panel out there at the moment, particularly at the Black Friday price.

I have tonight pulled the trigger on this. at £469 its a no brainer. I was holding off on the Acer 271 however the Dell now dropping well below the £500 mark made my mind up.

I was waiting for info on the HTC Vive before shelling out on a new monitor but that looks like it is going to be April now so just ordered one of these :)

These monitors are just not selling...Hence the price drop...

I bought one for £499 on release...Sent it back as no way was it worth the money.

It was plagued with vertical line interlacing issues.

Some have been pleased but tbh its just a run of the mill TN

In fact the IQ of the U3415W was miles ahead was just the BLB on the corners made the £644 I paid hard to stomach.

What do you mean they are not selling, of course they are selling, heard nothing but mostly positive reviews from people other than yourself. And for £469 you can't go wrong. I love mine and I don;t have any vertical line interlacing that you are experiencing and if it is there and I haven't noticed it certainly hasn't effected me using it or the performance of it in gaming.

But I guess once you get bitten with a faulty product its hard for you to see through the red.

No I meant at release.

599 then 569 now 469 all within weeks of release.

Even at current pricing having had a Dell U3415W the Dell S2716DG was a huge disappoint. Build quality for one...Wobbly stand when turning it on etc...

The U34 I miss still... The build quality was high typically Dell just shame about the BLB :(

Can you elaborate on this please? I'm a strong fan of 21:9 monitors and I believe the Dell is kicking rad but I must admit these 21:9 IPS panels are far from being "fast enough". It's the only con I can really spot, for anything else I love them.

So, hearing from one who had both, how do you compare this one and the U34? Could the fastness and smoothness of the 144hz+gsync combo even compare to the awesomeness and colors of the IPS+21:9 one?

I only have great things to say about the monitor and £469 (what i paid) i feel i got really good value for money tbh. 144hz 1440 and G-sync have just hit a sweet spot for my 980. I will say i cannot notice any difference between 100hz and 144hz personally but having 80+ in all my games (some 144 etc) there is a marked improvement. G-sync also makes the whole experience of vsync stutter a thing of the past. IMO fantastic monitor. Yes if i bob my head up and down the panel changes the shade of color (say on this forum) but i dont sit at m monitor moving my head about and tbh i dont care either. I have Dell IPS monitors on my desk at work and for office work definitely an ips but for games (all i do at home tbh) TN and this dell are perfect.

Once you game on a curved 34 inch Superwide IPS....a 27 inc TN regardless of its speed is a let down...it certainly was for me....

Curved Superwide gaming is simply sublime...:D

Had the monitor for the past week, overall I'm impressed with it. The screen has no dead pixels but suffers from a small amount of Blacklight bleed in the bottom right corner. The build quality is good apart from the stand allowing the panel to turn when pressing the power button.

G-Sync is great, it just removes all of the little frame rate stutters I used to get when playing BF4 and GTA V

Only annoyance is with the calibration, I downloaded and applied the file from TFT central but it is removed when I turn the gamma down with NvCP is there any workaround for this?

Well mine arrived yesterday. No dead pixels \o/ but there was a fairly bright band of BLB along the bottom in the middle. Seems to be gone today though?
Pretty happy so far!

Got mine this week and gave it a good test run tonight. Colours were a little washed out at default settings, a quick calibration with i1 display pro has improved things but some more tweaking is probably needed. Worth mentioning that the blues/greens are not that great on this screen (as seen in tftcentral's gamut plot as well), which really stands out next to my old Dell 2408 which has quite good green coverage going into the Adobe RGB range.

Gaming very smooth at 144hz, so much less input lag and gsync is great - all in all a great gaming upgrade from the trusty 2408 which will stick around for photo duties.

Anybody with Trackir use this monitor? Thats exactly what trackir is, bobbing your head up and down and side to side a lot, so shade changes would be bad!

Anyone simming on one of these?

anyone know how to take the back off this monitor?
I have a small gap on the power switch side and apart from that its perfect so id prefer not to send it back.

I've just placed an order on this as it was at £449 today only...my first G-sync panel! Looking forward to what my 980Ti will bring to this new dimension of gaming :)
