my 24inch monitor(hyundai w240d) went on the fritz a few months back(after 3 1/2yrs so outside the warranty), was trying to put up with it as long as possible but got to the point where I could only use it for 30min - 1hr. it I was tempted by the 2412m but in the end went for the 2711

was trying to decide blow £600 on the 2711 or half on the monitor(2412m) and half to upgrade my pc(so from q6600, p5q dlx, 4gb pc2-6400 to i2500k, p8p67 pro/p8z68 v pro, 8gb pc3-12800). in the end decided to go for the best(well 2nd best as couldn't justify the £1k for the 3011) and hope it lasts me several yrs. 5850 will struggle tho.

the lack of hdmi on the 2412m was an issue for me as I connect my ps3 to my monitor as don't have a hd tv in my room(only a 15inch sd tv), could go hdmi - dvi cable/adapter but then would b connecting via vga or dp for the pc. lack of speaker on the monitor is not an issue for me as have the z5500

You've already purchased a ZR24W so I don't know what advantage it is to hear that other than self-gratification or disappointment. Not enough difference to warrant switching from the ZR24W to the Dell.

I have an old Dell 2405fpw, and am considering getting two U2412Ms to use with it in eyefinity. Do you think there will be a distracting difference in colours from between the TN and IPS monitors when i'm gaming in Eyefinity?

The U2412M is IPS as well as your 2405WFP dude... If you talking about other monitors however. I noticed when I had my new U2412M beside my old St2410 TN panel, the difference in colour was quite noticeable.

The 2405FPW uses a PVA panel. Not sure about the colour difference though.

from my experience even identical models have often color differences. (not as large ofcourse as different monitors) Never had eyefinity though to tell how much annoying it might be, which again is maybe also a matter of personal tolerance. From experience again ofcourse some degree of "normalizing" can be achieved between two monitors (although harder ofcourse with different monitors) through the RGB settings, but for three , especially different ones seems more like a doomed challenge. Only way to maybe know for sure is to test actualy monitors side by side (IF possible at all)

Yep definitely a PVA screen. Since both models are standard gamut there at least shouldn't be an issue with colour space and they should look similar. Calibrtion would help you get them all looking similar

Just set up my new u2412m and have to say its a beaut!

This screen oozes quality- Im no expert on monitors but after researching dozens of potential purchases I know I've made the right choice.

Gorgeous picture,no issues whatsoever regarding ghosting etc- so far I've played Bad Comp 2 on it with all settings on high and it shines.

Buy one!!!!

I too have the same problem, albeit a nice one to have, as MeMeMeMe. I have a first gen 2405 still going strong. I want to get another 24, maybe a third one day again if I ever update my mac's gphx card or replace it with a gaming setup again.

The alternative and a strong one is the 23", but then I have resolution changes which I understand eyefinity goes to the lowest common res.

I am sorely tempted by the 2412.
