Dell U2412M, U2312HM and U2212HM on their way!

Hmm I'm looking at getting three of these but I need to see reviews before I commit this sort of cash down.
The back light being the usual issue with the ultrasharp for issues.

I wonder if OCUK's price is the 3 year next day swap out warranty like another site.

Yes it is, updated our website description to clearly show this now. :)

Oooh how exciting. My U2412M just arrived (review sample from Dell before you ask). Unfortunately I can't review it yet as I'm busy reviewing a nice shiny Samsung. It will just sit on my dining room floor teasing me.

That's just educated speculation - nothing official. ;) I don't think the price will be quite as high as the U2211H's launch price but probably similar to its current price after discounts. If it was over £200 then the U2312HM would most likely be in the region of what the U2311H was at launch and given the price of the U2412M that wouldn't be a compelling deal!

The IPS226V isn't a good monitor for gaming if you were intending to use it for this (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=19732859&postcount=9). The U2212HM may well be if the U2412M and U2311H are anything to go by.

Gaming hasn't been a priority on my PC for a number of years now, but not having unnecessary amounts of motion blur would still be a bonus. I currently have a 2007WFP that I'm wanting to replace with a full HD screen and not sacrificing pixel density at the same time, which has been why I've been looking at monitors utilising similar LG.Display panels as found in the 21.5" iMacs.

Just read about someone on hardforum who had bought three U2412M but he will return all of them cause of back light bleed.

His post:

Here's shots of my three screens. I didn't get the tripod out, but for the purpose of displaying the bleed it does the job. I'd be very interested in hearing your opinion of them. Shots taken a bit over 2 metres from the screen. Hand held D70s 50mm fixed / 1.8 aperture, iso 1000. Bright pixels are dust specs, not dead pixels.

Centre screen - very strong backlight bleed top left (and some bottom right)

Right screen - backlight bleed is much more moderate

(Uhm, from Preview looks like it's not embedding - maybe my post count is too low?)

Thanks again!

EDIT: I also found that the plastic frame is slightly loose at the top of the panel, on the back of the two worst ones. Pinching it very gently laying my hand of the top of the screen, dead in the middle, thumb on front, other fingers behind, I get movement and bit of snap noise on the two worst ones.

Interested in the U2412M and getting two of them...thing is from what I've read in simple terms it boils down to great picture with poor response time (strong ghosting) using IPS vs ok picture with excellent response time (no ghosting) using TN. I know there is a middle ground but I'm honestly quite confused.

5 years ago when playing CoD2 5v5's was pretty much my life I would have opted for the one with minimal response time any day. Now I mainly play WoW and rarely play FPS games...is it still worth going with IPS and ditching 120Hz? Movies aren't really a priority.

I'm on a 17" Sony LCD (30ms reponse time!) at the moment so I imagine anything I buy will be a step up :p
