*** Dell UltraSharp U2410 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor @ £447.99 inc VAT ***

In any case if I was going bigger I'd save a bit and get the Dell 30" :D which is what I plan in Jan/Feb :D Rotate the 2 24" dells and place them either side :D

Depends on your needs I suppose.

What about the Hazro 30"?

Same quility (better surround) and is £200+ cheaper and also... has a MUCH MUCH better response time then all dells

As far as I'm aware, they use the same panel as the previous generation Dells (3008WFP) so the response time is the same. You also make other sacrifices with the 30" Hazro, like only a single input, RTB warranty, no internal scaler which is all reflected in the price.

The response time is not based on the pannel.
There is no internal scaler = your nocking off 20ms right there.

Any anyway thats what a PC's GPU is for ?

The point I'm making though is sure the Hazro is cheaper, but there are very good reasons for that. The fact there is no internal scaler is fine for a PC monitor, but for anything else you are going to run into problems.

The warranty would be a deal breaker for me, had too many issues with RTB and Repair warranties.

But if you are looking for an affordable 30" gaming monitor for just a single PC this would be ideal. Like you say the input lag is lower than the previous model and the competition.

I guess we are both bias anyways! ;)

Dell arnt a competitor they are a manufacturer and supplier. I cant see how they can stop you linking a company selling its own product. Its no different to Hazro. If i had the choice as many of you have then go for the U2711. Its price is far far to close to the U2410. When i got my U2410 the price difference was like £300 which is a fair bit.

ahh so its from dell themselves. that is a bargain. whats wrong with the monitor., must be flaws in it. dell never sell monitors cheaper then OCUK and other retailers!

I currently have a Dell 22" (2209WA) I thought about just getting another 22 so I can play videos on one and use the one I have now for everything else

Would I just be better off getting one 27" Dell and selling my 2209WA - I had the U2711 in mind. Would that give me more space than a second 22" screen or maybe getting a 24" and use my 22" as the second screen?

edit - I have a single 5770 graphics card. Would this not cut it at 1920 x 1200?

edit 2 - why is the U2711 only £50 more than the U2410. Does the U2410 have a better panel?

For gaming... A 5770 would certainly struggle at 2560x1440 with the U2711, but should be ok with the U2410 at 1920x1200. You have plenty of screen to play with on a 24" and has been fine to work with.
If you do CAD or design work, they you'll need something bigger. If you do get bigger than 24", you'll need another GPU to help rending your games quicker at those higher resolutions. Thats where you'll need a Nvidia 480/580 or Ati 5870/5970/6870 to just to cope. At 24" and below, your 5770 is in its prime.

Well how chuffed am I? :D

As I posted earlier I bought a new u2410 as my 2407 had died. So Ihaving done some research I bought a replacement inverter from the states and it arrived this afternoon. 15 minutes later, I kid you not, I now have 2 24" displays on my desk :D It actually was a lot easier to fix than I thought. I was expecting the case to be a right pig to remove but actually it was very straighforward.

Now to start getting stuff set up for multi monitor gaming etc :D I forsee another GTX580 in Jan :D

Can't i just set games to 1920x1200 and desktop back to 2560x1440 (when using ableton & tutorial etc)

What you can't do is change the size or shape of the pixels. Small changes in resolution are generally acceptable but the loss in image quality that a fairly significant reduction in resolution entails should not be accepted. It's a waste of such an expensive monitor.

You will have a nice black line right in the centre of the screen where your corsshairs will be if fps.

Or not lol, I'll be using just the one screen for FPS. Otherwise my head would be moving around like mad lol. Later in new year getting a 30" so that will help :D

I do like WOW on one screen and guide etc on the other and FSX on one screen and moving map and approach plates etc on the other :D
