Demon Souls PS5 Beginners Thread

The columns are great when it is 1 or 2 of them but, 4 - 5 I cannot seem to get the angles to block everything, I have used a crossbow to try range. Now I have zero grass to recover any health, I am screwed lol

Dis game is so damn hard!
What kind of build are you playing? Melee or magic? I'm melee and hardly take a hit against this boss as she doesn't attack that much.

If you're melee and go down the right hand side to the last column and two hand your weapon then you can run up and whack off a good bit of her health bar. When she teleports there will only be a couple of clones so go back up the columns and look at the worshippers. They'll be raising their hands and and facing the real one. Once you know what one it is you can run over and finish her off before she teleports for the second time. If she does manage to get away then do it again or go hell for leather and hopefully you'll get the right one before it gets too overwhelming.

I'd also say if you have found Patches already in the Tunnel City then you can go to Islands Edge and kill a few of the skeletons at the start for souls then go back to the Nexus and buy grass from him before going back and trying it again. Archstone of the Shadowmen is actually pretty easy if you avoid the big demon and red eye skeletons. Also, take a bow for the flying things and you'll be able to get a big chunk of it done when you're fairly under levelled. That should let you level up a bit and hopefully go back and finish off the Idol.

If you've already killed the Flamelurker and Tower Knight then a run through the Inner Ward is excellent for collecting grasses.

Thanks for the advice! I am playing a tanked up Knight melee - shield and currently got the B*****d Sword which seems pretty nice, only thing is I am almost at full burden making me quite heavy :/

Also those green runes that she places down, I cannot work out how I am supposed to remember where they were placed on top of actually running around killing the boss

I shall dive back in again tonight... !

I loved my first play through. Sword and shield.

I'd like to replay it some time. Any suggestions on fun builds? Quite like melee tbh, magic can be a little boring sitting back and shooting. Wouldn't mind a mixed build.

You'll find the Ring of Great Strength next to the two dragons at the start of the game. It's under the blue one's tail I think and you can pretty much time the flames and run up to get it. That'll let you gear up and stop you from fat rolling. ;)

Don't be scared to go for lighter helmet and gloves and keep the body armour. I don't think the armour does much anyway so not having the heaviest stuff won't penalise you much.

As for the green bits, don't kill her followers on the way in and they'll trigger the location of them as they walk over them.

Good luck.

I was going to try a naked playthrough. :D

No clothes, no shield and just a ninja sword.

I'll let you know how I get on.

I only went and did it! Wow 3 days that has taken to complete the reward is so satisfying, wow! I need a beer :D

Didn't go for the Ring of Strength though will definitely try and grab that though! Thanks!

I only fear though for what lies ahead, onwards!

Yes! Well done! You'll love the next boss on that level. :D

Got the Ring of Strength tonight!

Also beat the Adjudicator boss, took me almost a week! (These bosses are getting damn right gnarly!) Could not work out what was killing me, until I saw I was getting tongue whipped! Phew! Another boss eating dirt

It's incredibly satisfying beating the bosses. Was my first demons game and felt like I had achieved a major life milestones completing the game.

So I started Dark Souls 3 remastered to see if Demons Souls is something I would like. I got it ages ago in a sale. DS3 has been kicking my ass because I don't have a clue what I'm doing. Managed to defeat first boss after 6 attempts though, so I'm damn proud of that! Did some grinding for a good few hours around high wall of Lothric, exploring and levelling up. Managed to get all around the place and unlock the shortcut and after only 4 attempts, I downed the second boss. My heart was literally pounding in my chest though. I have played games all my life and rarely had that.

I'm finding it challenging as hell but I'm actually really enjoying it. Im into the next main area now and finding things a bit easier. Still early days yet but this weekend I have shown myself I can get to grips with it and progress.

So, anyway, I have decided to plump for Demons Souls, and have it downloading. Wish me luck! :)

Good luck. :)

I've platinumed Demon's Souls, DS3 and Bloodborne and I'd say that's the order from easiest to hardest.

Looking at you Orphan of Kos, you ****! :D

Thanks. I started it today - only had a couple of hours on it. As I'm playing melee on DS3 I decided to change it around on DS. Started as a Royal.

Died a couple of times due to me mucking up but I'm cutting through everything. Now there have been situations where I'm glad I had powerful ranged spell, but overall I am feeling like for the basic dudes I am totally OP. Not even fought first boss on the castle yet so I'm toying with starting again as melee. But interested to see what build I can do with royal - thinking something like a battle mage.

Something else that's making a difference are the messages other players are leaving. Been really helpful! But also kind of feel a bit OP. Any way of turning them off?

Also any way of turning the 'white shades' off as I keep reacting to them - they make me jump and "panic swing" :p

I think the only way to turn all that off is to play offline. Cant remember if you have the option with this one.

This Flamelurker chap is hard as nails, such power!

One hit can remove all my health, I am going through grass like it is going out of fashion, any tips to conquer this beast?

I am playing a Knight melee sword and shield, I have removed all armour to be as light as possible as i don't think armour has any impact so I get crushed any way, I cant seem to get a decent swing at him, and if I do I get a hit and he just kills me any way

You need to be able to take a hit or at least block one on the shield without dying. If you can't then I'd recommend going somewhere else to level up your health a bit first.

Get some distance and when he comes at you roll to the right and behind him, get a few hits until your stamina is nearly away then back off. Rinse and repeat until he's dead. Make sure you're not that burdened that you're fat rolling.

From memory I think he does an attack where he raises both fists above his head and slams the ground. If you see him going for that then roll away because it'll probably break your guard and stun you.

Also, if you're really struggling then use a stone to take body form before you go in and look on the ground for a blue symbol to bring in a phantom to help.

Finally managed to beat him! *Victory dance* After repeating it over and over I just got to know the move sets and when he can and cannot hit me in certain areas.

This is my first proper play through of a Souls game, I tried Bloodborne years ago but just got so frustrated and gave up, Demon Souls I have tried to play it more tactically and gone in with the mind set that I am not going to just breeze through it so just trying to take my time! :P

I am determined to beat this game :D

I'm similar. Got BB a way back and struggled through the first parts. But then got to Father G's second phase and gave up. I liked BB but also hated it. I think a large part of that is from the fact I never understood the mechanics.

I'm finding Demon's Souls more enjoyable. Playing slow and steady. But also because of the hype, I have 'cheated' and read around the subject more and the game requirements have just become a bit more clear.

I have only just got to 1-2 boss. He did a OHK I didn't even see within first 5 seconds of fight and now I'm fighting my way back there. This might take some time but having played through some Darksouls 3 (which is harder imo), I'm confident I will kick his ass (eventually) :p

On another note I killed the red dragon and looted the area under its nest. This is likely to end up being a regret after the 100th time fighting my way over the bridge to the Tower Knight.

Ah well, you live and learn! :)

Managed to get some more time on this today.

Got back to Tower Knight. Battered him.

Cheesy style! Used well timed soul arrows. Pop out of cover, wait a moment, cast, roll. Repeat.

Went to 4-1. Crikey those metal rolling guys are both extremely tough if you don't handle them properly but also really dumb. Got through first fog gate, killed vanguard dude then exploring underground tunnel. Nailed first two roller blades, almost got 3rd too, but then the game did something stupid with the camera so I couldn't control it or see the enemy to attack / defend. I died. Feel robbed and like its a massive flaw. How the hell can I not control the camera? I wasnt even locked on. Reminds me of the dumb mechanic in the witcher where you go into fight stance when someone gets close and cant run. Stupid mechanics.

Parked it for tonight. Too annoyed with the camera. Lol.
