*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

Fair enough then, if you have a space then please send me an invite (FaceBaker) and I will scrap setting another one up. Will just do a LFG VOG on hard afterwards

I'll be on quite early this evening/late afternoon so I'd be happy to attempt VOG any time then if you like. I'll just jump in with you and we can invite whoever is on our roster :)

If I'm about I wouldn't mind a Crota attempt although I am only 30 would do vog but to earlier for me coz of kid and dog to sort out etc.

Let's get Tuesday sorted. I'd still like a VoG run early doors if people can make it, preferably hard for that Vex, but can do normal with my alt.

Tuesday 6:30pm GMT VoG Hard
1) mid_gen 30(31 hopefully)
2) Greeboth 31 Warlock
3)
4)
5)
6)

8:30pm GMT Tuesday PS4 Crota's End Normal

1) mid_gen 30(31)
2) Greeboth 31 Warlock
3)
4)
5)
6)

I'm up for trying some CE out tomorrow night. I don't think I will be able to get home / dinner in time for the 6:30 raid.

If you are ok with me just joining for CE, put me down, otherwise happy if you want to get someone in for both

JWhalley - 31 Hunter

VoG isn't compulsory, I like to fit an early one in as I'm an hour ahead of you guys and late runs can get v late for a schoolnight. If we don't get the numbers for VoG we can always blitz nightfall :)

Looks like we'll be mostly 31 for CE so should be a good run. I've not actually managed to finish a section of CE yet despite being in there a few times scouting various stages....we should be good to go. I think we're at the stage now where if you haven't done it all yet, it would be worth sneaking a quick look at a guide, as it's not going to be new for most people and it'll just make more sense when we explain it.

Tuesday 6:30pm GMT VoG Hard
1) mid_gen 30(31 hopefully)
2) Greeboth 31 Warlock
3) Brown_Pants
4)
5)
6)

8:30pm GMT Tuesday PS4 Crota's End Normal

1) mid_gen 30(31)
2) Greeboth 31 Warlock
3) Brown_Pants 30(31) Warlock
4) Dancula 30 Hunter
5) JWhalley 31 Hunter

No more Raids for me on a night in the week as i am back to work today so will not be finishing till after 10 :(

Anything on tonight for Xbox One? I'd be up for continuing Crota, Nightfall, Weekly (need to do 2), or even a quick VoG run (need shards).

One space going for CE tomorrow if you want it? need your blade dancing skills!:D

Myself, Si and EvilMatt are looking at a VOG hardmode tonight at 9 if you fancy that?

Ah yeah, definitely put me down for tomorrow. Can probably do a hard VoG tonight assuming we can blitz through it. I'll need to do Nightfall and Weekly first before it resets.

With a few 31s it should be a fast run.. I need to do nightfall on my 29 hunter so I'm up of that defiantly.

I've come to the conclusion I really don't like the Crota's End raid at all, it's all pretty generic and/or copied from other games. It does't feel like a completely fresh challenge like the Vault of Glass did.

Maybe it's partly because I haven't been able to finish it yet, who knows, but other things are bothering me though I'm sure many of you will disagree with many if not all of my points :D

Spoiler tags in case there are people who haven't done any of it yet.

I really don't like the first section in the dark, it's annoying and pretty similar to Tomb of the Giants in Dark Souls, which was probably the most annoying part of that game and no fun whatsoever, but also the fact that the the first part of the raid can can be done solo is silly. It's actually easier doing it solo if you're the right character. Daft.

The bridge/gatekeeper section is a good idea and we had fun working that out on our first run and felt it was quite an achievement when we finally managed it. But now, knowing this can also be done solo or now via the cheese method if you have a Warlock with self revive makes it worthless

The Shrieker/Thrall section with the chest and the Deathsinger can also be done solo which is fine since you don't actually get any drops for them (other than the chest run) but I'm pretty sure Bungie didn't intend for it to be done solo

So we come to the end of the raid, the final boss, Crota himself.

The timing required to defeat him is extremely precise and whilst this might be a good idea it becomes a problem when on 1 or more person's screen Crota's shield is down, yet the sword carrier still gets splatted when running towards him. It seems that even though you might think you've lowered the shield you can't be sure unless he's actually kneeling down and with such a small window to be able to damage him you're simply not doing enough damage with any delay in laying the first blow. The final fight just feels like it's luck that decides if you can finish it, not fun at all. By contrast the Atheon fight (despite it's bugs) was, and still is, much more fun.

I know it can be done but I must have spent 5 or 6 hours trying with decent players and as I've said it's just not fun any more, and when you think what you need to do to level up to 32...:(

A full set of raid armour will require 84 Radiant shards to fully level up. Since you can only get them by doing the raid and that, for argument's sake, you can only get a maximum of 10-12 shards per raid, you need to complete the raid in full a lot of times. If you have 2 or 3 characters...:( Also, if you get Radiant energy then you're going to have to make sure you've leveled up Crota's Bane to level 4 (I think) to swap them or you're going to need to do a lot more raids. You can't even rely on duplicate armour drops to dismantle them for shards as your raid drops are supposedly tracked. It's also been suggested that you might also be able to get them via the Nightfall but I've not seen proof of this. Even if this is true, you're going to have to wait 5 for the next opportunity. I did it 3 times this week and got standard ascendants twice and a crap shotgun.

Unless changes are made I can see me losing interest in Destiny, at least until expansion 2. I don't want it easier, but I think it needs to be fairer (less luck) and more reward for the effort/grind.

I haven't done all of the raid yet....but I do enjoy the first section. I was looking forward to fighting off hordes of thralls and that section delivered.

I'm not going to complain about cheese issues. This stuff happens, remember when everyone was pushing Atheon and the Templar off? The testing could be better but it will never be perfect.

I need to complete CE properly to have a real opinion. I do really like VoG though, the pacing of the whole event works nice now the cheeses and Atheon fight is fixed. I like the sound work, the oracle chimes and gorgon section are cool.

I partly agree, I haven't completed CE yet either but what I have played so far I don't forsee it being as enjoyable to play through 2 or 3 times a week to build up armour and radiant materials. Considering it is a raid this may sound odd but I think a problem with CE is that it requires too much luck.

Hated it the first time I ran this but playing last night with the right people it was quite enjoyable. Not so much we are going to wipe AGAIN! but still had enough dredd and oh god this could go wrong at anytime feel to it.

I don't see how it is possible to it solo without cheesing it. This is where I think luck plays too much of a part. You only have so long to do it and I know killing the oracles in VoG is similar, in VoG if for whatever reason someone messes up you can through team work recover and continue. Mess up this though and almost gauranteed a wipe. You can't really complain about it being cheesed, yes the cheese shouldn't be possible but it isn't a fault with the raid itself so once patched will be fine.

The Shrieker/Thrall section with the chest and the Deathsinger can also be done solo which is fine since you don't actually get any drops for them (other than the chest run) but I'm pretty sure Bungie didn't intend for it to be done solo

It does seem this has been put it solely just for the challenge of getting the chest. You complete the section before and just seems a little out of place to be in there.

Not sure that needs to be in spoilers but agreed, this is where I think it becomes most stupid. For CE to be the only way to earn radiant mats is ridiculous and going to be a boring grind. I think you will get duplicates though, didn't they say more likely to drop what you haven't got not that only drop what you haven't got. Still not really going to help you get radiant mats ay quicker.

Semi agree with you here though after the (IMO) flop of COD really lacking a good MP FPS which while Destiny isn't perfect fills the role quite well.

The problem is though, you can't fight them off, there are too many and when you factor in weight of darkness it's sheer luck being able to get your whole team through. It's just daft that it appears to be easier to do it alone!

You can, we did it that way the first time we tried it, even with 29s (wiped on the ogre). You just move slowly as a unit covering all angles, stopping to revive as necessary, ignore the debuff and just make your way through. It'll be dead easy (if slow) doing it that way now we have 31s involved. Because you're a small packed group you are constantly chaining supers off each other which makes for fun times!

If you're in a good team you can coordinate well and all arrive at the pillar at the same time, stand there until weight of darkness is completely gone then run on to the next pillar before it explodes. We did this last night no bother, all 6 together.

As I said above first time I hated it but last night, but a group us were running it last night and was much better. As we have Alts ran it twice and it took 4 or 5 attempts to complete it twice. With the two times we were succesfull no-one died while running the lights.
