*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

Ok I have got myself completely confused (doesn't take much granted..). Could anyone answer the following question:

If you have a character that hasn't run "normal mode" on something, can they join the hard mode equivilant if they are not leading the fireteam?

My second Warlock hasn't done any CE stuff beyond cheesing for shards (first two sections), but as she is fully upgraded and can run at level 32, I would like to just run HM on her from the off.

8:15 Friday will still be a nice normal mode refresher though.
 
I think it is double loot on hard, just sometimes it's rubbish loot like shards and energy, whereas previously it'd just be one or the other. Up until Crota, loot wise I got:

Abyss Defiant
Gauntlets (5th pair so far!)
Boots (3rd pair)
12 shards
11 energy

The shards allowed me to max out the raid helmet so now I have maxed all raid gear and can choose from a number of exotics to equip. I was levelling Light of the Abyss but I think I'll save the energy for the primaries now.

Really hoping I get Word of Crota! It's perks aren't quite up there with Fatebringer, but it still looks pretty decent. Will be great for the Thorn bounty in the Crucible!
 
If anyone is doing a normal run on CE and wants to take a noob through on their team let me know. 31 titan/psnid-redrooster303.

I got an invite last night to a CE HM run but I couldn't have kept up I don't think not knowing the layout etc. I know the first bit but that's it.

I agree with the Dr. We'll easily get it done in that time. I'll be online from 18:30 if there's anyone around for Nightfall and Weekly. Got 2 Nightfall to do and 1 Weekly.

You can jump straight into hard mode whenever you want, you'll get double drops if you haven't done normal too (for most boss/section drops at least).

Who's still down for Saturday daytime? If we don't get the 32s anyone mind doing VoG HM or CE normal instead?

The Abyss Defiant is an absolute beast, definitely the fatebringer of CE, I haven't heard good things about the other raid weapons.

It's basically a solar version of Suros that doesn't use an exotic slot...i.e. win.

Bridge = Abyss Defiant - Solar Auto Rifle
Crota = Fang of Ir Yût - Arc Scout Rifle
Crota = Word of Crota - Void Hand Cannon

So nothing at the Witches?

Deathsinger is just a materials and exotic chest.....and does not double drop.

Healing by picking up orbs definitely works if you have gear equipped with that perk. I had Mask of the Third Man on and my health would regen to full on picking up a single orb. You can't pick up orbs if your super is full or you're using your super, so I kept having to burn mine just to be able to pick up an orb.

For Bladedancers, the Hungering Blade perk also fully regens health by killing an enemy with Blink Strike or Arc Blade. I found that Blink Strike wasn't killing in one hit though so I needed to get a shot on a Thrall or Acolyte before meleeing.

For Suros, I wasn't using it, but I can imagine a big reason it doesn't work so often is due to not getting the killing shot? With so many people shooting the same enemies, I can imagine people will be stealing kills all the time.

Suros perk doesn't always trigger the health regen, unlike the red death which always triggers. I've since read you can shoot Crota a bit and get the same health regen as well. That should be nice for red death!

Yeah, I had a quick play with it last night and was impressed. It doesn't sound amazing but it's got decent stability and impact fresh out of the box. The perks are also some of the more interesting, such as disorientating wizards.

One of the cool things they've done where it's better than Suros is make the Focused Fire perk optional without it restricting you from enabling the other perks. So if you want to retain the DPS in Crucible with max attack, Perfect Balance etc, you can.
 
Times like this, where having a particular gun for a certain reason but in itself isnt great, where a hotswap button would be ideal - wish Bungie had utilised the PS4 touchpad more

Least it seems that VoC/FB primary with BH and Horn is the setup to go with if you have a blessing bubble to cover any damage (shouldnt get much if you arent the swordbearer and titan after the initial room)

It seems to be absolutely superb.. I have 3 upgrades to go to get it to 331.. Can't wait to see what its like!!

I used my 300 hand cannon for most of the run last night then switched to my 331 Suros for Crota when I realised there was no chalice.

On average, I seemed to get regened every 5 kills which was not too bad. The only thing with the Suros (and with auto rifles in general) is getting the last hit. As someone who's mostly used high impact - low ammo hand cannons for the past few months I'm not used to the mechanics of auto rifles. I feel like it forces me to stay in a prolonged gunfight for a bit longer which isn't that wise in the Crota fight because of everything that's going on, but that's just me.

My only other alternative is a 274/300 Red Death that I haven't even touched yet. Hopefully Xur will sell an upgrade tomorrow then I'll give it a proper go :D

Precisely my plan too.. upgrade the RD and level it..

30 bounties a day should level it pretty quickly.. plus I'll apply a buff too lol
