I switch between voidwalker and sunsinger regularly.
Not much point using Gift Of The Sun and Viking funeral as the grenades don't ignite people....you'd have to switch to just one grenade to make it worthwhile...I think I prefer having the extra grenade. If I'm playing control I'll usually run Radiant Skin and Heart Of The Praxic fire as it's awesome for just wading into a big group of enemies and murdering them all.
Fireborn honestly I'm a bit 'meh' about in trials. I've clutched a round here and there with it....but good players will just batter you before you can move. I've won a lot more rounds with a well placed nova bomb. I'll probably start with voidwalker and nothing manacles as there quite a few tight choke points where the scatter grenades could be nasty.
Agreed on Fireborn, its very easy to predict most of the times, or people just use it too late for it too even matter, it can be deadly at times, but I feel as a super it carries way too much risk, and you really have to time it perfectly, compared to other options I don't find it great. I've also faced teams of 3 players running it, but with team shooting they all went down, had 2 self res at the same time on Friday and just burned them down. Other supers are a bit similar, I've killed a lot of blade dancers since they pop it too far away and come straight at you.
After round three I typically just expect it too happen and get ready with my sniper/super. I think Radiant is a much better super, you can pop it and get very aggressive while tanking a lot of damage.
For nades, the burn ones from Sunsingers are best in class for trials, just wait till your certain of their location, hit them and start the burn, 1 shot and there dead, or just shot someones once and throw a nade.
Nothing Manacles are also great, I forgot how power they can be and get torn apart, blink is great for movement, not 100% sure about nova bomb thou, mostly cause I typically have blink and the animation is really long, so I can blink to safety and clean up the warlock.
