*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

Was actually talking about this a few days ago, I think in hard mode every time you fail to switch his gaze it will cost you a 'life' on the tablet. I can't comment on how effective 1 doing gaze is because we have only ever ran 2, but the fight seems to go by fast.
Using the single gaze method you can still kill him in only two gazes if you have enough DPS, along with Weapons of Light and a Hunter Tether. It's ridiculously quick if you have a well drilled team.

You could well be right on that hard mode mechanics though, as that would force pretty much everyone to use the two gaze method.

I'd be surprised if the HM version didn't require you to bring him down without breaking the gaze once...shouldn't be too huge a problem. Maybe if they debuff gaze holders so you can't take it twice it'll need everyone to be happy managing gaze.

It's usually straightforward but sometimes dang those orbs just decide they are colliding with something and pinball over the place....

If you're going to have the second person take the gaze you might as well just pop the second bubble instead of jumping out straight away, get them extra DPSes in. If I'm on first gaze I'll go hammers at this point and clear exploders.

There's not a lot of mechanics for the DPS guys, think they can manage shooting a second bubble :)

The problem with popping the second bubble is that the exploding thrawl spawn so you have to keep an eye for them. Once you got to the second bubble or more you end up with 2 gaze holders, 1 on ad duty and 3 DPS. Running the 1 bubble method no exploding thrawl spawn so you can have 4 people on DPS duty. You could have 5 on DPS duty however having 4 on DPS and 2 gaze holders means while the back person has his gaze you can shoot down the front bubble with 4 players getting in the pit ready to DPS as soon as he turns around. Also instead of mad dash to get out of the pit the back player can take his gaze back meaning everyone can get out calmly without fear of being killed by his eye blast.

Edit: There are a few ways the hard mode could work, debuff so you have to swap gazes, can't break his gaze, bubbles don't respawn so have to do a multiple bubble approach.

Haven't found the exploders too big a deal, especially if the gazeholder who doesn't have it at present clears a few and ideally pops hammertime/revenge of the sith.

Still, 1 bubble works for now and as we have two newbies might as well stick to it for this run.

I have one that needs charging on my Titan but I don't think I will be able to get on much before 7. If I can get on I will ping you an invite / party invite.

What is the tier 3 now this week?

EDIT: Looks like it is the Ogre again from the first week. MUCH harder* than the Wizard from last week (up to yesterday) but pretty straight forward.

*Harder in the sense that there are in effect two bosses (more if she spawns another Ogre) and the health pools are higher.

Correct, you only get the fragment if you place the rune. Which is annoying as I need two fragments from tier 2 but have no stolen runes and I am not level 5 with eris to buy any :(

I've been reading the tactics guide that was linked earlier but it's just not really sinking in. Think I'll need to play through it and see the layouts etc with my own eyes before it clicks tbh, so I may be frustrating as all hell this evening :D

When you play the tactics will make sense as you've got a better frame of reference. Having others talk you through it helps a lot as well :)

Bought the ad on yesterday after not playing it for about 3 months. Wish i didn't now... Just put 3 hours into it getting to level 38 and im bored again.

Think i way overplayed it to enjoy it anymore.

So going to try and set up a raid for fri evening, xbox one at 8pm. Feel free to put your gt's down. I will warn u and say that I'm a complete noob to the new raid so would be helpful if a few experienced players can help guide me through :).

Like I said feel free to put your names down, would be nice to at least try the raid. I don't expect us to finish it but hey if we do then all good :D.

Another good run earlier tonight lads, pretty smooth. Definitely up for doing it again on my Warlock just need to see what nights I'm free.

Thanks for the great run lads! Really enjoyed it. Apologies for the few wipes i caused!
Nice to run with a group who take time to let u get the feel for it and explain! Not had so much fun on a raid in quite sometime! Will definitely try and roll with u guys again

Good run for us up to Deathsingers last night. Had to stop there due to Mid_Gen's time constraints (being an hour ahead).

Deathsingers and Oryx should go down if we can hit it again later in the week.

Pigtails is now 300 which is nice. A better ghost will see her at 302/303. Got no weapons or the Raid ghost again which was slightly disappointing.

Hit some Court afterwards and took out the Tier 3 a few times for the loot. I think I had 8 or 9 drops from one run... :D Pretty easy fight as long as you DPS the Wizard enough to kill her once the Ogre is down.

Didn't realise but I am up to 43 of 50 calcified fragments (Thanks to Greboth and TehBlueBear for pointing some out to me). Just a couple more from the Regicide mission and I can do the next step in the quest to get Touch of Malice.

Greboth - You up for attempting to finish that tonight?

Yeah good run, thanks. Didn't get anything to up my light unfortunately. Won't be able to fit in a go at finishing it this week, but next week we shouldn't have anyone going through for the first time so we should easily have time to get to oryx. Did you get a chance to run through the deathsingers mechanics for the new guys?
