*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

I'd be up for doing Regicide with you tonight OweO as I need them also. There's no nights this week that I can't do tonight, so I should be OK to complete the raid whenever.

Failing so many times on the ships put me distinctly in mind of that most dreaded of raid bosses from the Lich King era WoW - The Lift of Serpentshrine Cavern :p Once I had switched to third person view vua the sword though, it became much easier.

The fights themselves were fairly easy to grasp, despite a bit of unsureness about the timings on the bubble fight to begin with (before the Warsinger). Really enjoyed the raid overall, cheers to everyone, especially OweO, Greb and middgen for being so patient and explaining everything :D

Pretty pleased with my Darkhollow Chiton drop, fairly nice amount of defence increase over my old Vermillion Stripe chest. Is that part of the Hunter raid set then?

Finally managed to get a Stolen Rune which I guess must have dropped in the raid, so I can do one T2 Court fight. Got two Antiquated Runes sat in my inventory as well. Would the single T2 fight hadd one charge to each of those, or just one?

Let me know if my mic still produces echos, I can probably turn down the input volume slightly, depending on how loud my voice is normally.

If people are up for it I am happy to do the first couple of stages (say up to warpriest) Thursday night so that Friday we can finally try and take Oryx Down.

Can do both Thurs and fri night guys. Thurs night will need to go by about 12 as got work early fri but fri I can do an all nighter if need be.

Looking forward to giving the raid a proper go.

Thanks for the great run lads! Really enjoyed it. Apologies for the few wipes i caused!
Nice to run with a group who take time to let u get the feel for it and explain! Not had so much fun on a raid in quite sometime! Will definitely try and roll with u guys again

You handled yourself very well I thought. It's got to the point with our group where the ship section and the deathsingers take up the majority of our time, the two are linked as such because some people just don't handle platforming very well so the ships are a nightmare and if you are assigned the shade during deathsingers it can often result in a wipe. We have the rest of the raid nailed I think. We always get there in the end that's the important thing. Mind you, we were a bloody disaster at Golgoroth we didn't deserve that kill lol.

I will warn u and say that I'm a complete noob to the new raid so would be helpful if a few experienced players can help guide me through :).
If you're looking for experienced people, I'd recommend you watch some videos and get up to speed with the mechanics that way. There's not much point going in blind if other people are just going to be telling you what to do anyway.

Good luck! :)

Yeah good run, thanks. Didn't get anything to up my light unfortunately. Won't be able to fit in a go at finishing it this week, but next week we shouldn't have anyone going through for the first time so we should easily have time to get to oryx. Did you get a chance to run through the deathsingers mechanics for the new guys?

We ran through the mechanics at a basic level but didn't attempt the fight. As Drunzer highlights below it is probably the toughest part of the raid so far simply because everyone has to be comfortable with every roll (specifically jumping in a short time window - one miss jump and it is a team wipe). Again this is nothing that can't be overcome with experience.

Sounds good. Sorry I didn't realise you were at the same point. :)

I do need a hand with the Undying mind / Knight section first if that is ok?

I have watched a few videos and to me it seems everyone has different ways to do the raid. Personally the best way I've learnt to raid was being told what to do when I first did the crota and vog raids so I have no problem being told stand there and hide etc lol.

But yes gonna néed some luck I think, once I get and understand the mechanics of the raid I'll be fine then.

You won't find any of the "stand and hide" tactics here, Bungie have done a great job of making sure that everyone has to do their part. Crota's End was so badly designed a single player could drag 5 noobs through the raid with them barely having to fire a single shot. In King's Fall, a single player not doing their job properly will likely lead to a wipe. It's challenging, and finding a good team can be a struggle, but when you finally nail a boss it's a great feeling.

yeah they are just a heroic strike with modifiers to make it harder, and light level 280 instead of 260.

This week's modifiers take away your radar, and your shields don't regen, and you can only take down elemental shields with the correct corresponding elemental damage.

Normally you could use an arc weapon to take down a solar shield, just slower. But this weeks modifier means you can't touch it until you switch to the correct element.

i have just unlocked a mission to investigate a strange signal from earth. investigate a bunker!

mission reads... investigate the bunker RAS-2

had a fight with some knights in ratsputins bunker then killed a boss called something like rangorak.

received an item called a curious recover.

i need to enter a simple passcode into the receiver....

Didn't realise but I am up to 43 of 50 calcified fragments (Thanks to Greboth and TehBlueBear for pointing some out to me). Just a couple more from the Regicide mission and I can do the next step in the quest to get Touch of Malice.

Greboth - You up for attempting to finish that tonight?

I am off the cinema after work so will be 8-8:30 but should give us enough time to finish the steps off. I have done the knight strike so if you can run that earlier if you want though from memory you need a fragment or 2 from regicide which I need too though I also need to in to shield brothers and the dark knight (Ala Khul?) strikes to get my 45. Plenty of vide guides though so shouldn't take too long to find the missing ones.

As above, I will be on a bit later tonight but if we are all at roughly the same step then it would be good to finish together. As for the runes, a single stolen rune will charge all antiquated runes at the same time. Last night I did 3 reciprocal fights which charged for 5 stolen runes and 3 stolen runes fully charged my 3 antiquated ones. If you want the fragments you need to start the fight but for charging you just need to complete it. So if you haven't got enough stolen runes just head to the court anyway as I'm sure someone will put a few stolen ones in that you can play.

We all start somewhere and we have been learning more every week we have attempted the raid.
When I think back to the first time we tried the raid to where we are now we have improved massively. (although Funky still rage quits at the jumping puzzles ;D)

As frustrating as this has been I have to applaud Bungie in that they have truly made a brilliant raid compared to VOG/Crota. It feels like a raid should with everyone playing their part and contributing.

I have only ran the other two a few times (probably less than 10 of each) and am still confused with some sections (purely as I am usually told just stay here and shoot anything that moves)

Where as with Kings Fall I feel that I now contribute. MilkyBk has been brilliant with helping us all out on the XBL raid's giving us tips and tactics on how to get past certain points and the fact that we were able to get to the deathsingers last week showed a marked improvement as we struggled to get past Golgorath the week before after two sessions.

With the raid still being new there are new tactics seemingly coming out every week and I think as we all get bits and pieces from the raid to help improve light level then we should be in a better position to run it through in a few hours.

I'm amazed we got Golgoroth down on that run seeing as we'd used up five lives on the first rotation, he still had 2/3 of his health left and and we were dropping the bubbles randomly around the pit.

I enjoyed the chaos of it all! :D

Check the main destiny thread. This thread is really for finding groups to do PVP activities / Strikes / Raids.

Really enjoyed my first run at King's Fall last night, pleased to finish it in one sitting and got me some Mad Loot™.

Now that I fully understand the mechanics, thanks to Martin, Fr0dders and Kris etc I'm looking forward to doing it with my alt if anyone has a slot they need to fill this week.

Indeed mate, that's why it's annoying to find groups that want certain criteria in order to do a raid.

But you are right, everyone has to start somewhere...I remember kwjay guiding me through my very first crota raid then vog. Took me a few times but once I got used it, I could do them with my eyes closed.

Of course the new raid is completely different from what I've seen and experienced ie the start, jumping on the ships and then bit before war priest then war priest himself.

But looking forward to joining up with u guys later this week, I can't really get any higher than 296 so need raid gear to get past 300.
