*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

Finished another KF HM run, got a couple of nice drops this time definitely better than the last one, sitting at 312 light now :)

313 MG, 312 ghost, 309 helmet, 318 gloves, 318 bond

We're set, I think.

PS4 - King's Fall - Hard Mode - Wednesday (28th) - 8:30pm

1) Drunzer
2) CoreyMcK20
3) PsychoSonny
4) OweO
5) Turbo_Nuter
6) middgen

All good. Made it to daughters with work and got my titan to 309, and enough to infuse my hunter up to 304, so I'll run hunter to daughters on this run then switch, hopefully have titan at 310 if I can get some decent drops on the way.

Cool, so looks like this now:
PS4 - NM King's Fall - Weds 28th

1. mctrials23 - 299 hunter
2. DavieM66 - ??
3. Silas1972 - 297 titan
4. Vin_man66 - 294 hunter
5. TehBluebear - 301 Hunter
6. sk8board_pete - 301 hunter

Out of curiosity, how many of us have actually done this/know what to do? We also seem to have an abundance of hunters

:o:D:D

Ah, we'll be reet.

I've done the raid twice. Only completed it once, but up to Oryx I'm fine. Once I've done something it tends to stick ok.

Hey Rooster, nice to see you back. :)

Would happily help you through a KF Raid.

Normal is pretty easy now if I'm around I have no problems helping out, however I really want too finish a HM.

Oh and wb rooster....you've got a treat for you in King's Fall, great raid :)

Thanks a lot, really cant wait. Got myself upto 285 tonight so I'll follow everyones advice and get some strikes done to push me up to the 290 mark.

Not seen any of the raid yet but will look it up on youtube if needed. :)

You can get through a NM raid at 285 :D, so long as the rest of the team are 290+ and have good communication, your lose out on a bit of damage output on the bosses but its more than doable. We've got a few low 280 through without any issues (one first timer), most people by now have the correct gear (ToM, Black spindle, etc). Got no problems helping out if your looking for a run, ending up doing it 6 times last week doing the same for others :p

Did NM daughters/oryx cp on my titan over breakfast to try and get a helm..still no luck! Did a couple strikes and FINALLY got an exotic helm to decrypt at 310. Titan is now 310 all set for HM tonight :)

Surprised how OK HM was last night without a hunter. Even with no tether we took warpriest down in two sequences. Don't know if I was just landing more shots but the first attempt where we didn't quite make it my 310 1000-yard stare was doing WAY more dps than anyone else. I did 500k and next nearest was 300, they were using spindles/sleepers.

I think a good 1000 yard stare with triple tap and some sniper reload arms is hard to beat for WP/golgoroth.

For Oryx are we gonna do the tactic where you leave the ogres alive until he's staggered? Looks pretty straightforward.

Thanks guys for last night. So pleased to finally get the raid completed on Normal Mode and finally have my ToM (thanks HairyHen for the assist with this bit of the quest line)

After poor drops from the first three chests I managed to get some decent gear from Golgoroth, Daughters and then Oryx (those mouldering shards finally have been consumed - although I still have 60+ left). Now I have a full set of raid armour (310 Chest plate dropped for me :D) and so far am loving the 308 Scout rifle I got.

I guess next step is just get used to going through the raid again and again to get comfortable with the oryx mechanics and then try to attempt hard mode.

I tend to run my 1000-Yard stare with triple tap (& mulligan) on the majority of KF HM as it is both a higher attack rating than my Spindle and can do more sustained DPS over the course of the DPS phases (higher attack rating, faster fire rate and more hits due to TT - reloading isn't a massive problem as you have time for it).

I don't think we will be lacking any DPS mind tonight.

I assume Corey will be relic runner at Oryx in place of Moe?

We tried this with an LFG group on Monday night (myself and Moe) and there are 2 major problems I can see with the strategy:

1 - The Ogres are absolutely deadly when they are left to roam around, if you happen to be in mid air and one turns on you... it's game over. This is especially difficult for the relic runner, Moe died quite a lot between taking the relic and getting to the vessel because of Ogres.

2 - Again because the Ogres are allowed to roam, sometimes they tend to walk pretty far away from 'middle'. We had a lot of deaths where people didn't get back to the aura in time, you're talking a step or 2 outside the aura. Anybody who has done normal mode Oryx will tell you, the bombs are weird... sometimes they will detonate after 2 seconds and there's other times where they take considerably longer. It's when they take a little longer to detonate where the problems happen with people getting back in time.

We had 3 people in our group who had already beaten Oryx on hard using this strategy and they admitted themselves there's a certain element of luck in the strat and it appeared we had none on Monday because they said we were doing the strat perfectly it just wasn't happening for us.

There is another strat that I liked the look of, it takes a little more precision to pull off but it limits the randomness of the fight. 3 plate holders, 1 support, 1 knight watcher and 1 relic runner. You have your 3 plate holders and a relic runner as normal, your support and knight watcher are up top on the sisters platform opposite Oryx. The support focus solely on dpsing Ogres along with the plate holders and has easy access to all of them because of where he/she is positioned. The knight watcher's sole responsibility is taking out the knights as they spawn, they need to be pretty handy with a sniper rifle.

As long as the relic runner gets around in a timely manner and the knight watcher drops the knights quickly, the people on the plates and the support person should be in no danger.

Thoughts?

Good raid last night - thanks for the hand holding chaps - much appreciated and lots of patience from everyone on the jumpy bits :)

Anyone up for a run of the weekly nightfall??. ive posted up on 100.io but not sure if anyone will join up so if that doesnt happen then ill be around later tonight for a run if any of you kind souls would like to join me.

Looking at around 8pm if possible.

Will update in case I get it done before then but if there are a few that want to run it then im more than happy to run it again.

I'd like to do the nightfall but I won't be back till around 9pm :(

This weeks nightfall is super easy if you have void weapons guys. I had a void sniper and telesto along with a void machine gun and its honestly easier than the standard strike. The different elemental shields break super easily when using void damage.

There were 2 of us when we did and it was much quicker than the heroic strike version. The darkblade goes down super quickly as well if you use void weapons.

Basically, give it a go solo and I think you will be surprised. I'm mid 290s light and the other guy was low 290s and we walked it. Did it again straight after for his second character because it was so easy.

This was basically happening to me every time I tried to get from my platform to the sisters platform. One Ogre (or both) would aggro me and *blam* game over. Whilst you can stagger them and then try the jump the timing is so tight that it is very easy to mess up.

Another option I have seen is to have two Titans on Support. They use Blessings of light and ToM to help nuke Ogres and knights. I have seen this strategy used for the other bosses as well. Seems very risky but can lead to massive sustained DPS if you pull it off correctly.

That strat is almost the method we tried with you, Corey and OweO on platforms. Moe running the relic leaving Staley and I floating for Ogre's and Knights. When we tried though we both were on the floor but the above hybrid strat sounds like it will work out better due as it saves running around the map and into some of the ads.

Anyone up for a HM raid Thursday night ~8PM and/or over the weekend? Getting to Oryx on my main and alt isn't too difficult but I would like to run it twice to try to get drops so at least my main is a better level for giving Oryx a go.
