Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (Square Enix Reveal new Deus Ex)

Yes I would have loved another hub like Hengsha. Everyone was complaining about the lack of a second hub so I was expecting Golem City to be very quick so I was pleasantly surprised when it lasted me a good while and I didn’t even do everything as I thought I would be able to go back before progressing the main mission too far. Spent a good while taking down everyone. Brilliant stealth game.

Yup, took a proper lookaround in Golem, lasted quite a while. I'm loving Prague at night as well. A couple of side quests have opened up so I'll make sure to finish those before progressing the story.

With regard to Golem and Rucker -

I was quite disappointed that killing everyone in Golem resulted in no reaction from anyone, aside from a very brief comment by Rucker. I was hoping that slaughtering several dozen of your augmented brethren would have at least resulted in a psyche evaluation cut scene or a side mission of some kind.

Finally got around to playing System Rift. Finished it in one sitting. Damn that was short and I explored pretty much everything. Was semi-enjoyable, would have rather seen it integrated into the main game somehow. If they wanted to sell it as DLC, it needed to be bigger and longer for me.

Was nice seeing Pritchard, but boy what did they do to his face? I mean two years have gone by since HR and everyone looks 5-10 years older and look more ugly in MD for some reason.

I hope the devs work on a longer better story for the next game, as MD did not feel Deus Ex'y enough to me. Also they should do motion capture going forward.

Got 94 hours on my steam clock and done 49 our of 58 achievements. Definetly got my moneys worth at least :D

Decided to give DX12 another try after this patch. Constant crashing until I took it out of full-screen then it let me load in & I was able to change to full-screen again.

If I can get it stable great, otherwise back to DX11 to finish the game:/

Is there a large update today? It's taking ages to update on my 240Meg connection on steam.

Yes, the update was 1.3gig.

[03-10-2016] PC Patch notes for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Patch build 565.4
We have just released another PC patch for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, v1.8 build 565.4_P8. This patch focusses on updating Breach content and features, fixes for a couple of critical issues raised by the community, and several updates for DX12.

This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client.

The following fixes are in this patch
- The patch adds new Breach content and features:
Avatar customization (possibility to change the appearance of the Ripper in-game)
Overworld Map
New Santeau Corporation (New Maps and Darknet file)
New UI for avatar customization
New items: Premium Ripper Skins (2)
New item: Premium weapon (1)
- Fixed an issue where some players would crash when loading their savegame.
- Fixed an issue where players could get stuck in the side mission: 1011000

DX12 specific changes (*only applicable to the DX12_preview branch)
- Fixed an issue that could cause a DXGI_DEVICE_HUNG error.
- Improved performance stability, this should result in less stuttering.
- Slightly improved loading times.

While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on older versions, we have made a Beta for build V1.7_551.7 available on Steam that can be used to switch back to previous versions.

We will keep monitoring for feedback and will release further patches as it seems required. We always welcome your feedback!

I have to say that my rating of this game's graphics has jumped from "rather good looking" to "pretty damn impressive". Golem was amazing and Prague at night is very crisp and colourful. The lighting and shadowing is great. Top-notch atmosphere.

The game won't launch with DX12 selected for me after the patch. How do I roll back to the previous version? It will launch in DX11 but then my average and minimum FPS is dropping from 46 to 40 and 39 to 19 respectively. The release notes say they have created a beta version titled V1.7_551.7 that 'is available through Steam' but when I look at the Betas listed under properties this version isn't there. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Edit: It's ok I was expecting the most recent patch to be at top of the list but it was at the bottom - re-downloading the previous patch now...

Noooo! The previous beta version is the pre DX12 release so now I can't play in DX12 at all!

Ok so it seems if you disable fullscreen the game will launch in DX12 then you can change it once in game. For anyone using freesync you will probably need to minimise and reopen the window to get freesync to kick in after enable full and exclusive full screen.

Yes I got that feeling too once I fixed the performance. The occasional stuttering in Prague was forcing my eyes to the FRAPS overlay instead of the game. It really ruins immersion for me, it’s my biggest problem with an otherwise-excellent game. Even though I know this game is technically better than DXHR, I prefer DXHR as it performed so much better.

But yes I do think this game looks lovely, even grey old Prague has grown on me at night, there is so much attention to detail, so much to see and explore.

Did the Pallisade bank heist – it’s brilliant. Wonderful design, gorgeous building and it was an absolute joy to sneak around, take everyone out and then rob the place blind. Tremendous fun. Will definitely be replaying that place. Really slick interior too.

Just completed the game. I liked the ending but then I always liked an uncomfortable/unpredictable ending in movies too.

My only regret is that I never did find the underground vaults in the Pallaside Bank despite spending a good bit of time sneaking around. Perhaps I'll go back to it...

You need to select the bank option when given the choice...

If you need a very small hint:

You can get to the underground vaults via the Pallaside Bank car park.

If you want a bigger hint:

You need to stop a fan to go past it.

Even bigger hint:

Any more hints and I might as well tell you :p

That is only if you want to get into Veralife Safe. There is nothing stopping him from finding the underground vault as soon as you get to Prague :)

There is a way to actually do both Veralife bank mission and save the woman. I did it for fun on my 2nd playthrough :)

[07-10-2016] PC Patch notes for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Patch build 582.1
We have just released another PC patch for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, v1.9 build 582.1_P9. This patch adds support for DirectX 12, fixes for a couple of issues raised by the community and adds a separate preview branch for DirectX 12 Multi-GPU.

This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client.

The following gameplay fixes are in this patch:
Players can now also close their in-game menus using the keys to open it: TAB / I / M / O / P / L.
Fixed an issue where the diagonal walk speed was too fast, causing Jensen to make noise.
Fixed a crash at the shooting range.
Fixed an issue where Rucker would not spawn in certain situations.
Fixed an issue where the tranquilizer rifle would no longer shoot in certain situations.
Fixed an issue in System Rift where the “Heat Sensor” strategy page would not trigger after loading a savegame.
'Hold E' to open Mission Objectives/Pocket Secretaries/Strategy Pages/Etc. are mapped to the TAB key by default. This removes the interference with 'Hold E' to drag bodies.
Official release of DirectX 12 support in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided:
Added support for DirectX 12.
You can toggle DirectX 12 from either the launcher window or from the Display options within the game.
Note that DirectX 12 requires a restart of the game if (de-)activated from within a running game session. (WARNING: Using the DirectX 12 API can offer better performance on some systems, however, it will not be beneficial on all. If you encounter problems with DirectX 12, we recommend turning it off again. There are no visual or gameplay differences between the two DirectX versions.)
Multi-GPU Note: Currently we only support Single GPU on DirectX 12, see below for more details about Multi-GPU.
As always, make sure that your drivers are up to date:

Of course! I completely forgot about the car park. I remember seeing it when I first started exploring Prague but then never thought of it again. Thanks.
