**DGM 27" LED IPS 2560x1440 ONLY £319.99 Inc. VAT (PRE-ORDER PRICE ONLY)!!**

It does indeed read to be a very good review. I will need to read it again in more detail but I am surprised when I read...

....as I continue to be amazed at both of those, in how good they are. When I look at a website like this...

I really am pleasantly amazed at the depths of the blacks and then the vividness of the reds etc.

At around 500-600:1 the black depth was weak for the sample TFT Central reviewed. Yours could be stronger as this does vary slightly but remember that Baddass had just reviewed a G2450HM with very strong contrast so would have had quite a stark comparison there. This doesn't mean blacks will necessarily look weak, as noted in the review. Fortunately you don't have a spectrophotometer for eyes. The glossy screen surface helps massively with perceptively deep-looking blacks, during the day or under light at least. And given the glossy screen and colour gamut extending just a little past sRGB I would fully expect colours to look vivid. This aspect isn't something that contrast ratio would really influence so much.

And kudos for another great review Baddass.

I can understand PCM2 and in a way I'm pleased that I do not have too much exposure to other models to compare this monitor to. The same applies to all my other tech type gadgets. That way I'm most happy with what I have and whilst I can appreciate the value of reading the review I am most pleased with what I can see when I use the monitor. Of course that is a retrospective viewpoint which potential buyers do not have.
Sure I see some warts, even with my wonky untrained eyes, but the cost difference (bought at £320) to get something better in the 27" range at 1440p would be too deep for my pocket.

I must admit that buying a monitor is the one type of PC buy that I would prefer to see before I purchase but, like in the case of the DGM, I rarely seem to be able to do that.

Again baddass - great review and lots of good information there :)

i did feel the same and i mentioned it in the review. On paper, the contrast ratio is quite weak (but not unlike quite a few other IPS panels to be fair). subjectively the blacks do look good and the glossy coating really does help there. as you say, and as i concluded in the review, the price point is so good that you can quickly forget about it :)

I agree that you really can't argue with the overall quality and price proposition here. I don't think it's ever enough to look at figures and quantitative data when it comes to monitors and that is why the glossy surface and perception was also mentioned in the review I imagine. I have also come across monitors that have really strong contrast in the middle of the screen but have terrible uniformity and backlight bleed which makes that little reading pretty much meaningless. The overall package here is very good.

absolutely. It's always a combination of subjective analysis and objective figures. With the glossy panel here, the point was well worth mentioning and to be honest i was quite surprised by the figures that the colorimeters gave me on paper. Agree with points about uniformity as well as that can cause issues in some cases!

Mac compatability

Any updates?

Looks like I'm lumbered buying a Dual Link DVI adaptor for my Macbook - no matter what I try, the DisplayPort refuses to work, even though my Mac works fine on other monitors through DP.

At the very least OC ought to post a warning on the product page, or not reject my review that mentions the fact.

I've no idea... Not seen it documented anywhere. I presumed generic ones were a similar price?

Generic will work, it just has to be active and they're all around the same price.

I'd send it back - it doesn't work as described? What's the point in having a display port input if it doesn't work.

I very nearly bought one of these to use with my MBP; for the very reason that it had DP input. In the end I went for a pair of Dell U2412Ms instead and have had no issue with the inputs on that.

Does anyone have one of these screens connected via displayport?

Thanks a lot mate, nice one. It would seem my display is A'ok *wipes brow*

Right! calibration next. :)

**BIOS ISSUE**

Just to let you guys know I have a GTX 295 and when the PC is turned on it shows my bios fine. I am connected via duel link DVI.

Ok, now im joining the "bios not showing club", after installing an EVGA GTX 680 4gb FTW the bios wont show. The first glimps of things working is the light blue windows screen coming up... great!

With me, the BIOS shows, but when windows is loading (the black screen, GUI OFF) the monitor turns off and then back on when windows is at the desktop :confused::confused:

Also, the monitor turns itself off and then back on when i go into any full screen game (like when a bf3 game loads)

EDIT: this behaviour is on a 580 sli system

When i was running a 6970, it wouldnt show ANYTHING until the whole machine was booted and at the desktop!

My monitor also turns itself off and on just before the desktop appears (with GUI disabled)
Luckily this is the only time it happens, although sometimes it can be sluggish to show the bootup sequence. :)

This is with a VTX 7970 X-Edition.

Does anyone know a way to force the monitor to stay on (like turn off a power saving function or something) so that it doesn't turn off when there is a 90+% black image? :)
