Decided to get a 120hz monitor and pair it with my old screen. May invest in one in the future.
Quick question please:
On boot-up the DGM monitor only displays output from the point where the log-in screen is displayed. I'm using the Dual-link DVI cable that came with the monitor, using a GTX480... Is there any way of getting display output sooner so I can get into the BIOS to change memory settings?! I was running dual screens but now the other screen isn't outputting for some reason.

Surely that will depend on the display settings they are using? Can see all on iPad three but that doesn't help you much.
Has anyone else tried this with a Macbook Pro? I really a 2560 monitor but i don't want to have to pay the ridiculous prices that Apple want me to! I previously had a Dell U2711 but after 2 of them not working within 2 weeks, i decided it wasn't worth replacing it for a 3rd. I have seen the other comment earlier on in this thread about someone's who didn't work with their Macbook Pro but i wondered if it was just a faulty monitor as he didn't get it replaced.
So, yeah. Anyone who has this working with a Mac, i'd love to know what you think!
See a few posts up. Im on a 2010 MBP with it and it works fine using the dual link dvi > display port. It would be a lot cheaper to use the displayport and a mini displayport > displayport adaptor. I haven't tried connecting it like that but the guy that had issues earlier in the thread tried everything with no success so I imagine he had a dodgy monitor. Colours are lovely and the slight gloss makes all the colours really "pop".
Ah brilliant, thank you. Could you tell me where you got your dual link dvi adaptor from? I've seen the official Apple one and it has a load of bad reviews and i'd rather not spend £99 or whatever it is on something that could have a chance of not working. It would be much easier if i knew for a fact that someone had a mdp>dp adaptor running into a good quality dp cable...
May have got wrong end of stick - if so my apologies but am running this monitor with a 2m mdp(gpu) to dp(monitor) without issue.
Cable was under £6 from a n other retailer - ocuk do not/did not stock.
I got the official apple one as most of the dual link DVI > displayport were about the same price. The niggles are just things like the occasional snowstorm when you come out of sleep mode that required the monitor being turned off and on again. I haven't noticed it much myself (once).
I get the distinct impression that the macbook user earlier in the thread just had general issues with his display rather than mac specific ones. You can get a displayport cable and mini-dp adaptor pretty cheap so maybe go for that and if it doesn't work, go to the apple store and pick up and dual link dvi > mini-dp.
People seem to have had more issues with the dual link dvi if they are hooking it up to the ACD with its built in usb hub. People complain that when the usb hub is in use, the picture can suffer. I honestly haven't seen any issues bar the sleep one.
When you use the Apple DVI attachment, do you need to plug it in via USB also? Or is that only if your monitor has a USB in? I'm just wondering how the USB speeds on that unit compare to the ones built into the Macbook?
Thanks for your help
Also, how would you rate the monitor's colours and screen reflectiveness in comparison to the macbook screen?
Thanks
You have to use the USB port next to the mini displayport or the whole thing waves a white flag. I think that is where some of the ACD hub issues come to light. You are pushing video and then data from your ACD hub devices through a single USB2 port which chokes it.
The end that has the DVI connector also has a USB port which you can ignore / connect to a monitors usb ports.
With regards to colours and quality compared to the MBP screen I have to say I am impressed. Neither has ben calibrated but the colours look very similar when you stretch a window across the 2 screens. The MBP is much more reflective in my eyes but the DGM does have a slight shine to it. I wouldn't want to use either with direct sunlight on the display but if thats not the case you should be fine.
I think if I had to choose, the DGM would shade the MBP for display quality. I am no expert so I can't quantify exactly why but the DGM seems to make everything "pop" a little.
