I got an old VAIO FW with a 4650M and hdmi output.
I will be able to connect such laptop to the screen and view content at 1080p upscaled by the monitor at 1440p, right?

HDMI on that videocard wont be able to output 1440p. If your laptop doesnt have a Dual-link DVI then your out of luck. The 4650m does support 1440p but not all laptops come with the Dual-link DVI. Some models have it and some dont.

My VAIO doesn't have dual link, so it will output 1080p. My point is, will the monitor upscale the 1080p signal to 1440p?
how will it look quality-wise?

I dont think so. From what i understand it doesnt have an upscaling function, it can only display 1440p feeds which is why we are having issues with low-res UEFI menus not displaying.

I see.. let's try an test it out if it works. can someone connect via hdmi the monitor from the gpu and set resolution within the OS to 1080p?
Also, can someone connect either an xbox or a ps3? I'm really interested about the results :)

DGM IPS-2701WPH 2560 x 1440

For a lot of years I've run dual Viewsonic 1600x1200 monitors, but recently one of them failed and the other is on its last legs. Looking around I was tempted by the Hazro HZ30Wie, but decided their support looked iffy. Then I looked at the Asus PB278Q, but that's on pre-order and I needed a monitor now:p So I came across the DGM and decided to take a punt:rolleyes: I reasoned that it had good reviews and was cheap enough to use as a spare if it turned out to be a mistake:eek: Well, it works fine and there aren't any issues:D

However, the stand is rubbish, but I knew that before buying it. My solution was to take the stand from one of the Viewsonics and attach that. Works perfectly and I didn't have to remove the stubby foot for the DGM stand as its not big enough to get in the way. So I now have a beautiful 2560x1440 screen on a solid stand with all the movements and at a price that makes me think I may get 2 of them:)

So, I can't into Windows install because the DGM doesn't like to be rushed doing anything. I've used VGA, DVI and HDMI cables and I can't boot into the Windows install because all I get is a blank (no signal) screen. If I want to do anything prior to the Windows login screen, I have to hook my PC up to the monitor I bought this to replace. Reading a couple of posts on the last few pages I see people mentioning display port not having this issue, so I'm going to grab a DP cable. Which ones are you guys using?

Any word on the horizon about a firmware fix that will resolve this issue?

I'm using the DP cable that came with my Dell in 2008! Works fine, I.E can see the bios etc.
But I have a strange problem. I don't know how to explain but here goes...Every once in a while I get an electrical buzz, the screen goes fuzzy diagonally for less than .5 secs. Like a buzz. Almost if the screen was shifting but changes it mind. My DP connecter is 1.1 might have to try a 1.2...

Brought one of these monitors the other week. All is good except for the fact my power brick is making a constant high pitch noise. Its not overly loud but if there is no other sound in the room it is easy to hear. I gets worse if there is a lot of white displayed on the screen. I have tried changing the socket its plugged into which has helped for a day or two but the noise always returns. Should I be worried about this? Does any one know where I can buy a more reliable replacement brick?

Thought I'd post a four month update, had the monitor almost exactly four months now, still working perfectly with no dead/stuck pixels, no issues whatsoever, I've had it wall mounted since day one so I can't comment on the stand, but this was probably the best long and short-term purchase I've bought in a long time, so much work space and a joy to look at, I love watching films and such from my bed.

The 3-yr overclockers warranty is lovely peace of mind too, I couldn't bring myself to save £100 and get a Korean one, my balls just aren't that big unfortunately.

Cheers.
