** Diablo 4 Thread **

I've just beaten Lillith at level 46 so I'm going to get up to 50 then try to unlock wt3. What's the best barbarian spec at this point? Currently WW and it's fine, just feel like trying something new.

WW continues to scale well, I've had no difficulties with it and it shreds regular content even in WT4. I'd settled on it as a build before knowing it was going to be meta, simply coz I remember enjoying my double tornado WW barb in D3 and it plays fairly similarly at higher levels. Needs decent mob density for it to feel smooth, something D4 can be lacking in places, especially in the outdoor world.

I'm in world 3 and level 56 and kind of struggling to find legendary's that are an actual upgrade. Should I just be use the blacksmith to upgrade the stuff I have?

If you haven't already, doing at least one re-roll on an affix to try and get a better one on each item will provide a decent boost, then I'd upgrade and socket everything if you have plenty of gold and materials.

I did the above around level 60 as I was plateauing and it made a huge difference.

Yes, have an idea what 4 stats you want on each item ( will differ per class/build ). If you get an item that's nearly "perfect" minus one stat being something you don't want or need then you have the option to re-roll at the occultist. Be aware though that the material/gold cost is high so this isn't something I started doing until lvl 60+, plus at that stage you won't be changing gear or gaining levels that quick so each incremental improvement you make will last. The easier and quickest way to improve your gear is upgrading at the blacksmith ( or jeweller for rings/amulet ). You can also socket your items and add gems ... 1 socket for helm, 2 for weapons/offhand, 1 for boots, 2 for chest and pants, 1 for each ring and amulet. You can't socket gloves. In the rings & amulet I'd suggest putting skulls to increase armour ( it's the best defensive stat in the game at the moment as resistances appear broken & worthless ). In chest/pants/helm put in topaz for damage reduction whilst control impaired, or rubies for added life ( not as worthwhile as you might think because of the way it's calculated ). Your class/build will determine what you put in weapons ... but most use emeralds for increased critical damage. And do Helltides, as often as you can ... you need forgotten souls in abundance for upgrading to the highest tiers and this material is only available in that event.

(No story spoilers) - Genuinely disappointed with this game, it's not "bad" but it's simply not up to the standards set by it's predecessors. Where to start, well first the character customization is inferior to the mobile game they released last year (how is that even possible?), secondly the graphics look really bland/muted, don't get me wrong the textures and objects look sharp but it just looks like half the colour palette is missing, those who played PC games in the late 90s/early 00s will remember you could toggle the colour depth between 16bit and 32bit, well this just looks like it's set to 16bit.

As for the gameplay, I'm shocked, it's like they took all the improvements the last game made to the series and just said "meh". There's no option to teleport to party members, there's no pets (to pick up your gold), there's no followers to accompany you, they added a talent tree for "customization" but compared to D3 you have less abilities to choose from, less passives to choose from, and less combinations you can put together as half the stuff requires points wasted in things you don't want/need, there's no cube, etc, it's like they were so obsessed with making new systems they never stopped to check if they were actually any good or if they were just designing rubbish that was inferior to what it replaced.

Then it gets worse, multiplayer with strangers is now forced rather than optional unless you want to just not do some content, there are NO rifts (seriously) so nothing fun to do after completing the campaign. The new legendary system sucks. In the case of the Barbarian there are less builds and variety than in the last game.

Oh and they have added a paid system to the game that gives you better cosmetics/etc than players who don't pay.

Not going to post any spoilers for the story content, but I believe it's okay to say that the final act is very poorly written and contrived, feeling rushed in some places. Playing the previous games I never once found myself at odds with my characters decisions, this was definitely not the case here and I hate it when games force you to do what they want for the sake of the writers vision when it feels totally wrong.

And to add insult to injury they have stated now D4 is out they're not making any more seasons for D3 now, obviously in case players go back there after completing the campaign and realising the endgame is inferior.

On a helltide, WT3. grouped with 4 others to kill a mob with an icon on the map called something silly like Kaxxxaxaxaxxa, spend 15m killing it, drops about 4 embers and a couple of yellows, never again.

Was it really high level? I've noticed some weird level ranged on monsters that spawn in helltides. Like I was running around at level 57 and I was getting chased by a level 82 elite.

Lol, yeah. Been there, done that and same outcome. I've found killing the summoned elites ( heralded by meteors falling from the sky ) give a higher quality of loot, more embers etc.

Haha. First time I came across that I spent ages killing it for exactly the same crap drops. Killed it a couple more times and got the same. I just ignore it now.

Can't recall but seems by the replies I wasn't alone in this! Very disappointed but hey ho.

Thought I'd level up an alt with the campaign to see how far it is. I'm about to face the act 4 campaign boss at level 22. Mount from level 1 is awesome.

Think they got the pacing off a bit as the rest of the zone is 35+

Only been playing a couple of days properly but loving it so far (just started act II, lvl 28 sorcerer). Thinking I’m doing well, then looked at some of you guys on the clan at lvl 60+ with ridiculous stats/gear

Is there a knack for levelling quicker? Or have you guys just played considerably more hours than me? I’m currently just doing side quests & events on my way to the main quests & try to thoroughly go through each area/dungeon.

Just play through the main storyline quests. Ignore any side quests and just enjoy the story. You will unlock the horse and can then go explore and find the statues at your own pace. The main storyline will get you to 40ish. I found it easy to get to 50, and then it suddenly became a great big slog with what seems hardly any progression in levels or gear. Am sticking with my fire sorc, but when you see the ice shards and arc lash players destroy everything in seconds, I don't know why I am bothering!

A lot of us played the beta which gave some insight into the game's mechanics and best performing builds. Post lvl 50 the game is grindy, so yes, it also takes many hours to progress. Not sure how many hours I've played ... maybe around the 50 hr mark.

The main reason to kill this is that it drops a bunch of souls, which is really the main reason for doing the helltide.

That mobs level also doesn’t scale so by the time you are established in WT4 it is easily soloable in a couple of minutes.
