** Diablo 4 Thread **

Performance has been **** during beta, plenty of people talking about it. Lower settings to medium, it won't solve all issues but it helps with others.
This perhaps isn't going to be helpful, but this is exactly why I've turned away from PC gaming. I'm playing the beta on PS5 and it's been smooth and problem free, apart from being booted out by the server twice. I know I might be missing out the odd benefit playing on PC might provide, but it's worth it.

I play games to relax, not to mess around with setting, drivers etc. I have a high (ish) spec PC plus a gaming laptop, but they sit unused for games. At my age I just want things to be simple :D

As a counter point, gaming on my PC has been smooth and fault free too. You'll hear from the 1% that have issues, not the majority that have no problems.

As a PC gamer, I can hop from my desk at 4K to my sofa and play on the TV or sat in my bed on the SteamDeck.

There's positive and cons to both PC and consoles :)

The necro is absolutely busted op, your minions do more damage with basic attack than barb or druid, and you can have up to 8 skeleton warriors and 5 skeleton mages and a golem.
Aye, the amount of damage is mad. Good fun while it lasts. The Druid abilities were so weak. I was spamming Landslide on an elite mob and it was doing nothing compared to the Necro abilities, which basically went like ... "Oh theres an elite mob, and it's gone lol"

It's still only a taste of the full game, so we'll see how it goes.

Have played a druid to level 6 so far and it's good fun but feel like I'm missing something... Only have basic attack and shred (wolf form) as my attacks. Is it right to only have 1 extra attack at this level?

I've done necro and druid to level 20 and the nec is way more powerful. The druid just felt weak and clunky.

I managed to fix the not being able to skip cutscenes by just alt tabing out the game and back loads of times.

This is annoying isn't it? After waiting well over an hour to play on Friday night. I had this bug. I tried alt tab but it didn't fix it. There was no way I was going to quit out the game, so I ended up watching everything again :(

have all the classes at 25 now apart from rogue at 18 (todays goal). Pretty much agree with Krips sum up of the classes so far. The funny standouts is barb basically being the least survivable and sorc being the most survivable

This is from the point of view of having only a few aspects unlocked as the beta has a 3x drop rate

I think this game needs 32 of ram, I dropped my settings to Medium and the stuttering was almost gone. I normally play PC games with tons of things opened in the background, but with Diablo 4, if I alt+tab everything loads so slowly and the memory is all used. Probably worst performing game to date I have played.

On high settings I get full fps 138 as I have it limited and then fps drops to low numbers all the time. Not something I have seen ever in other games. Totally unplayable.

I use GTX3070, 16ram and overclocked cpu at 4.8ghz all other games run so smoothly.

I watched that last night, and I agree with him. I think survivability for the Necromancer is a bit higher than his rating ( due to blood mist /immunity ) and not quite as high in the damage stakes but still firmly in 2nd place overall just behind the sorceror.

Capped the fps at 142 with a 3080, 16gb mem and a 5800X3D. Average I'd say would be 70% of the memory in use with the gfx around 85%. CPU was hardly used. Didn't notice any stuttering or frame drops. I'm still on old drivers as well.

I think I generally agree with Kripp's vid as well. Although I felt far more powerful on my Barb over the Druid. The survivability was easily superior, however this I think was a combination of gear drops and whirlwind. Being able to move freely saved me numerous times but also let me speed past things. I did less damage and took a lot more damage on the druid vs anyone else.

I have been enjoying it. Some performance issues i.e lag/pauses but other than that no crashes or disconnects.

Stopped now though as I would rather wait for launch rather than spoil anything else.

Yep same, basically ran OK, as you’d expect for a beta really with servers overloaded.

stopped about level 12 on necro and will save it now. Not 100% sure I’ll get for launch as very pricey, but imagine it won’t reduce by much for ages, probably just a 20% off at Christmas type deal. So actually probably will end up getting it as will be good to level / learn at same time as everyone, rather than coming late and too much info being “out there”.

Till then, got Grim Dawn in sales as never played it - really enjoying it, albeit the story / and presentation of it is so far behind due to small dev team and budget. Game and mechanics are great though.

For some people like me, its about the campaign and not the end-game grind. I don't care for power levelling, I want to enjoy the gameplay and thematics.

If the Druid is useless without power levelling and legendaries, I wont play it.

All the classes are useless compared to multi gear set characters of end game - it's just some less than others. On D3, every character I had through to endgame was boring compared to when the builds came 'online' with gear. Some builds open up and become viable earlier than others. The gameplay unlocks to a different level with gear - it's the core of the game and concept. You don't need to power level anything, you just accept some classes have an easier time levelling than others, whilst just a few pieces of gear and certain skills can completely transform a character.

O_o your level 6 mate... you can hit level 25 in 3 hours if you smash out some dungeons. That's like 30 minutes of game play.
