Diane Abbott suspended as Labour MP after racism letter

I can't really believe people defending her. How her statements are defensible? I mean, given that the party very specifically had a problem with anti-Semitism, what she said borders on the edge of unbelievable. It doesn't matter what she has done for the party, it was an inexcusably stupid thing to say. If she was an ordinary person, fine, but she is a politician representing our country. She should be dragged outside and beaten with sticks!

The only thing I would say to that is why is Labours position on something that only 0.2% of the country are, stop you from voting for them?

More people died of COVID-19 than identify as trans men or women.

It seems to me that far more people are concerned/worried about 'the trans issue' than the actual amount of people that identify as trans.
of course labour know the definition of a man or a woman anyway.... the problem is...... and it isnt great but it is a fact.... there are some issues which are just toxic and divisive and are ones that they would probably rather just not answer.

the trans issue in the grand scheme of things is not going to make the country prosper or fail..... but what ever stance they make (any party, i am talking broad strokes) could potentially affect votes.

Maybe not making my point very well, so lets take an obvious one and go accross the pond. Gun control!.

I bet secretly in doors even politicians who are over all pro gun would happily attempt to tighten gun control to try to keep them out of the wrong hands, having more checks and balances (in truth now pandoras box is open there may be no going back).

but i suspect if a republican was to take a hard stance on gun control, with licences needed to show you know how to look after them and handle them, and spot checks to make sure that people with guns keep them safely away from kids etc, and people with criminal records are not allowed them and these rules were properly enforced.

it would be political suicide........ (slippery slope etc)

The reality is some topics are absolutely not ones that those trying to get into power will want to take a strong stance on.

trans people may be small in number........ but they are incredibly vocal and committed and are perfect clickbait fodder for the press.

"Staffed by Believers"

And what are they going to do, use the Navy to drop migrants off at France? That'll go down well
sounds like a BNP National Front flier from the 1970s to me.

We were the founders of the European Convention on Human rights! Churchills idea, drafted by British lawyers.
A long time ago though wasn't it and our benefit system was very different back then too. Times change and the huge numbers arriving now are not genuine asylum seekers as none of our neighbours are at war! They're economic migrants which the European convention on Human rights was not intended to encourage these people to simply choose they would like to relocate here! Whenever a law stops working as it was intended or no longer works in the best interests of the UK then it needs amending or repealing.

(founder of human rights ... and, our definition of anti-semitism)

Keir, Diane, Momentum - classic 3-way good bad ugly standoff - if Keir(man who never was?) fires Diane, momentum get him, hopefully Raynor is collateral damage too,
and we can get someone decent .....all is forgiven David.

Apparently we were slave traders once, just because there was a time a situation was acceptable and seemed normal doesn't mean either slave trading should have continued nor remaining in the ECHR. Times change and the perverse take on ECHR legislation from a raft of modern dodgy lawyers has meant it now hampers getting a handle on an invasion of illegal migrants, as well as other things in our national interest.

Not defending or something, but in these days it's impossible to love everyone.

Even people who fight with racism are a bit racist.

And as the points made are what is required what is your point with some similar points that also needed addressing in the past? As I've said Reform haven't been in power so they've not had the opportunity to put the UK on the correct footing and path to growth.

Copying the attitudes and behaviour's of a bunch of Ultra-Nationalistic, Racist jerk-offs from the 1970's is not "what is required" at all.

It does not lead onto a path for growth, it leads to a path of ignorance and intolerance.

Why, after so many years of **** right wing government, do you want the country to go down an even more extreme path? Do you have a hard on for dictatorships? A poster of Bolsonaro or Orban on your bedroom wall perhaps?

Reform never put the legislation into place to have an open borders immigration system. They're campaigning to put things right which of course is a coincidence to the past because the public have been fooled into thinking more of the same won't affect them as somehow the money tree will giveth.

The Reform party is nothing like the BNP, it's actually quite diverse with candidates from LGBT etc.

In your tiny, blinkered opinion.

Many others prefer to see the reality.

They are a bunch of far-right, Nationalistic racists who want to withdraw us from the ECHR so they can treat human beings like animals.

Unfortunately they prey on the weak-willed and the weak minded, convincing them that everything is "the fault of those damn immigrants".

You've been played like a fiddle.

Firstly the Tories are nothing like right wing. They've shifted so far to the left that they're a standing joke among many Tory voters as being the new socialists.

The UK needs pragmatic leadership from people with good business acumen and to stop the rot from being too soft with an open borders immigration system that we presently have. That's not a dictatorship, it's putting the UK first and the only party that will do it is Reform!

but the whole thing of the increased number of illegal immigrants only happened after brexit.... which is something Reform want to double down on.... Now you may believe that brexit has nothing to do with the increased border crossings............ but the burden of proof is on the leave side on that one imo. Every country has some illegal migration, it is what it is, but it seems to me things have gotten a lot worse in the last few years, and if brexit isnt linked to it then what is..... imo your guys have compounded it (reform / brexit party... its the same thing with new branding)

Also
leaving the common market was specifically stated to not be on the table when people voted for brexit, that only came about after people voted. I want closer ties with the EU - tho i accept rejoining isnt going to happen any time soon - so with that in mind everything else aside it would be moronic for me to vote reform....

non of which has anything to do with getting rid of Dianne abbott of course....... i am happy when numpties of any party are gotten rid off, regardless of who is in power we need intelligent, qualified competent people.

I'm sure if they were racists they'd be advocating the deportation of everyone that wasn't born here and they wouldn't have candidates in their party from the LGBT community.

It's you that's been brain washed to spread hate towards the right of politics. You've been duped into thinking it's the taking part that counts and not the winning by a leftist education system. Also not to connect the dots that spending copious amounts of money doesn't affect tax payers.

And this is where people laugh you out of the building

Boris expelled all the left-wing tories. They are as right-wing as they have ever been.
