My ex is Indian (or Indian heritage) and her family said they would disown her if she continued to date me. Even though they were fully integrated into western culture, and some of the male family had married white woman.
I assume he missed? :D

IF she wants to send her kid to private school that is her right..... imo you do what ever it takes (legally) to do what you feel is best for your kid. it does make working for labour appear a little hypocritical.
that said.... (and in that interview she does mention it but she does not ram the point home as well as she should considering it's her job to be able to talk publicly).

if it were me I would say something along the lines of..... I don't agree with private schools and in an ideal world we would not need them , however after x years of rules under the current government which has missmanaged our public schools so much i felt I had to choose between my political ideology that a quality public education should be free and available to all against what is best for my child... any my child comes 1st like it would with ANY good parent. I am fortunate enough to be able to afford a better equipped school.........However If labour are elected we will put more into deprived schools that way parents won't have to make such a decision to possibly compromise their ethics.

nuclear de-escalation.... am no expert but how about something like..... yes i did vote to decommission X y z. it costs tax payers a fortune to maintain all this equipment. we will still have a nuclear arsenal but just how many times over do we need to be able to destroy the planet with nuclear weapons... surely just once is enough and this one uppmanship just to have MORE than other countries makes no sense when it costs so much.

I don't even know if this is factually accurately... but it rings true enough that many would take that on face value, and is not so far off it could be accused of being a lie.. it also sounds more competent than her response and answers the question something even those who may not like her can respect.

(this is assuming I am her with a Labour hat on) maybe I should have her job... am not even really left leaning but then some say that of starmer so maybe not a problem ;)

no idea.... but that is easy enough to talk out of if it is your job....... off top of head so perhaps not 100% (this is something the next labour government are going to have to get used to saying as well)

over the last 130 years we have had a conservative government around 100 of them....... it is going to take more than 1 or even 2 stints in office to turn this country around....... we are a long way off being where we want to be but all I can say is if we were in power we would be in a better position this year than we were last year and will be in a better one again next year than we are today.

again I am saying what she should be saying not necessarily what I believe.

oiy! I only got a Desmond. ;)

(in truth I was on for a 2:1 and was close but had a panic attac in 2 of my exams and failed both of them out of the blue...... not something I am proud of and until you have one they are hard to explain. I was a total wreck)
 
If there's one thing you do not do, beit Joe Public or a politician, it's talk about Jews or Israel. The entire subject is a huge clusterduck that will get you labeled as some jew hating nazi monster the moment you even slightly indicated criticism, just don't do it.

As far as I'm concerned Jewish people are not a race... Being Jewish is a choice/religion. Don't understand the word racism being used. Antisemitism sure, but racist??

Then again I'm on the side of the fence that doesn't believe in race but ethnicities, which is something to embrace rather than fear.

That said Diane Abbott is a vile woman with very strange perspectives on the world and society.

You are conflating 2 different things, Jewish is the ethnicity and Judaism is the religion. It's not your fault though a lot of people do, when someone converts they are converting to Judaism. It's a little different from someone saying 'xyz' is being racist to Muslims, which aren't race/ethnicity.

Fair point. Is there such a thing as a jewish ethnicity? What makes you a jew if you're not a follower of judaism?

I guess a jew is someone born in that region over the centuries. Didn't realise they had an independent ethnicity outside of their religion.

Unfortunately that's the issue when religion becomes intertwined in culture it becomes hard to separate. You can't have a go at a group of people without being something -ist
