Did the cold affect your car ?

mine was frozen SOLID to the point it would not open, a few 6pint milk bottles of *very* slightly warm water al over the glass and door handle and all was well.

It was -8c when i got in, thats too cold for a sat morning!

nothing really other than traction control light and stupid red ********* symbol on the dash, yes I know its cold the temp display tells me, without a massive red ********* thank you mr ford

The boot was frozen closed and where the hood hangs slightly over the door was frozen solid so I had a bit of trouble opening the door. Only to find my brand new battery was flat...

Left work this morning, go to open the passenger door to put my laptop in and ....nothing. Couldn't open the damn thing! Got panicing thinking the drivers door would be the same but it finally opened with a bit more fore that I would have liked to have used.

My temperature warning light was red rather than orange, thats about it.

Although after an epic night out, my car is in Newton Abbot and I'm in Exeter with a hangover...not sure how I'm going to get to work on Monday

Not really, washer jets froze up, but other than that no, we have hardly anything around here but the roads are so much better prepared this year! And because it was so dry there was no ice about on my windscreen so I didnt even need to de-ice! :D

You realise they're heated, right? :)

It's still quite warm here. However my car has been leaking so I've got a bad misting up problem.

I had to scrape ice off both the outside and the inside of the windscreen.

I don't know anything really about cars but there's a couple of people here who say their washers froze up. I thought that there were additives you could stick in so that the washer fluid doesn't freeze? :)

i didnt really notice any difference at all....

i stood at the front window and with one press of the remote the car started... It sat running for 10 minutes while i finished off my coffee and by the time i got in it, the interior was nice and warm and the screens were defrosted..

Lovely :-)

Condensation plus freezing means the nozzles often freeze over, even if the fluid in the pipes doesnt!

if the nozzles get ice over it, then you can still ahve problems even with the magic additives

you would think that they would have heated jets as standard on all vehicles by now..

I had to turn off the ESP on my Swift Sport because it went mental and wouldn't let me drive anywhere on fresh snow at first. Was quite useful otherwise.

Both my cars were fine in the cold apart from the wife driving our CTR into a curb and bending something.

Chucked a bottle of water over the door rubbers and front/back screens, wipers cleared the water away instantly :)

However the temp readout said -2 and my fuel freezes at -12, so the fuel pump had to earn it's keep today. I'm getting close to adding a bit of petrol to help things along.

Only adverse effect on my car were the washer nozzles freezing up. Well, I assume it was the nozzles as there's plenty of washer fluid mixed in with the water. We had quite a lot of snow up in Beverley where I work and it took me nearly 4 hours to get home last night. Plenty of hills between Beverley/York and the M62 and cars/lorries were getting stuck.
