DirectX 12

Not how i remember it. where?

Look at my last couple of posts in this very thread. Not that hard to see the link and big letter quotes :D

Lol at that tweet. Notice he didn't reply anymore after me showing the stats of failures. He would rather post a bench than address the real issues.

*sighs* You don't care but you better Greg; without the mess Xbox1 dev tools are; there wouldn't be DX 12;

I'll answer anyways - DX 12 is direct copy of Mantle or is Mantle; why would companies still take Mantle now? Very simple logic; get used to it; dive into the tools themselves and learn how to get most out of it. What translates from PS4 to mantle.......Mantle to DX 12......etc centergy.

I called it from the beginning; humbug knows me from other forums. People scoff at the idea....again this is only possible because AMD owns consoles; having them made this possible.

Without Xbox; there is no DX 12.......you can thank MS for totally screwing up their tools; better yet; you can thank AMD for saving MS's Xbox1; and now creating DX 12.....

So I can run DX12 now on my NVidia cards if I can get Catalyst 14.3 to work with them.

No need was aready ran on a Nvidia:

Ryan Shrout: NVIDIA will support DX12 on Fermi, Kepler, Maxwell and forward!

Ryan Shrout: Developers already have DX12 drivers. The Forza demo was running on NVIDIA!!!

Any thoughts on this? Pretty far away.

Bottom line is still the same.
Mantle->private API/SDK->AMD drivers for some of their cards.
DirectX->public API/SDK->Nvidea, AMD, Intel, ... drivers.
OpenGL->specification->free to implement.

DirectX:
Uses The public SDK/API->private hardware vendor drivers.
DX would like to be "close to the metal", but it needs to be fairly general to support the hardware from several different vendors.
MS talks with the major gfx hardware vendors about new (hardware)features to decide on a new SDK/API/driver model.
DirectX 12 will try to be "closer to the metal", but it still needs to be very general to support hardware from several vendors.

Mantle:
An AMD API, supported only on some cards. Close to the metal? yes.
Close to AMD hardware architecture, very probably.
Likely to have a public SDK/API? possibly.
API/SDK likely to be adopted by other hardware vendors? Probably not, especially if it favors AMD hardware architecture( it will ).

Or be dead by then when/if Windows 9+DX12 is here.

So peeps with most of the old G-Force 400 series cards will enjoy DX12, good for them
