Mantle has almost two years to grow.
Or be dead by then when/if Windows 9+DX12 is here.
So peeps with most of the old G-Force 400 series cards will enjoy DX12, good for them
I think the big potential positive for mantle, is if they make it linux/mac supported. Something DX never will be. I think if they managed that, (and got it working well) They'd be able to fight their corner effectively.
You think Windows 9/DirectX 12 is two years away?Mantle has almost two years to grow.
You think Windows 9/DirectX 12 is two years away?
Serious question.

I'm thinking MS may make DX 12 available for Windows 7 onwards because of the competition.
If they don't, they obviously think Mantle is *****.
Shush. If they make DX12 available on Windows 7 no one will have a reason to buy a new Windows OS
Oy.DX12 will be new Windows Seller so i am 99% sure it wont come to 7 or 8.1
Ryan Shrout:
NVIDIA will support DX12 on Fermi, Kepler, Maxwell and forward!
NVIDIA represents about 55% of the install base.
Developers already have DX12 drivers. The Forza demo was running on NVIDIA!!!
By the time they ship, 50% of all PC gamers will be DX12 capable.
Ouch, targeting Holiday 2015 games.
Sounds good going by those slides. Though you have to wonder, if Microsoft deliver on the above where does that leave mantle? No developer is going to want to waste time pushing out two close to the metal api's delivering probably the same performance.
Perhaps mantle has served its purpose of giving Microsoft and the gaming industry a swift kick up the bum.
