DiRT 4

Umm, you guys seem pretty worked up because I wan't to try a game for half an hour as I won't be able to get a refund once I redeem the keys. I bought the game LEGALLY and don't intend to keep the pirated copy... Where's the problem in that?

I don't really see a problem in it myself, I guess at least 90% of pc gamers including people on here have played a pirate game or emulated game at least once in there life lol

Graphics don't seem amazing but runs well and DEFINITELY easier to drive than dirt Rally which whilst a great game in itself needed a gamer drive profile. Great fun Dirt 4 with a wheel and I don't take things too seriously like some who whinge about everything that hasn't improved or changed to thier satisfaction

It would be a problem if I didn't buy the game and just kept playing the pirated copy for weeks. Not only do I have a legal key but will be selling it at a loss if I don't like the game so I don't know why everyone is behaving like I insulted their mothers. Labelling this as an "epic fail" is an epic fail itself.

Ok so i've put a couple of hours into it now, my feelings so far...
  • Not as polished as i hoped it would be, noticing a lot of little issues, nothing game breaking but plenty to make me notice theres a lot to work on. restarting sometimes restarts you way behind on time, repairs dont always happen after confirming repairs, some sound issues where speakers drop out and it defaults to HDMI sound(driver issues rather than game?)
  • Game looks great but at the same time it just seems to be rather "flat" looking, havnt really played around with graphics settings just stuck it on ultra and played.
  • FFB is ok, but feels quite different to Dirt Rally.
  • I'm feeling the whole cars feel "heavier" less floaty thing, a nice improvement.
  • Handling physics in general are pretty good on sim.
  • Choice of cars looks great, just started playing with the GrpA cars now, loving the Evo!
  • Australia is infuriating, its greece all over again...

Hmmmm. Tried all sorts of FFB settings for my T300. Feels no where near the quality of Dirt Rally, just feels completely muted in comparison. Will have to wait for some good settings i think. Shame

Yeh even sim mode aint like dirt rally it seems

Interesting about sound issues, why dont you use hdmi audio anyway, its best by far and uncompressed PCM surround sound also.

Because the built in monitor speakers are pants, i've got a decent old 2.1 set hooked up to onboard audio via 3.5mm jack. not running any fancy surround sound setup.

Using a big screen TV linked by HDMI, using a 2.1 cheap sound bar really makes a difference.

The only problem l'v had is one lock up, just played for over 2hrs since the driver update no problems.

Just redeemed my codes. Had an hour or so and decided there's enough promise here to give it a chance. I wouldn't compare it to Dirt Rally though, it feels way off graphically and in terms of handling. I don't evel feel this was made by the same developer, can't believe how detailed and realistic the stages look in Rally.
Your Stage is nice and tarmac feels better, as does snow but the handling needs work, especially the way cars turn. I also appreciate the new weather options and the rain has more effect on handling I think. The forming puddles also feel great when you go through them. Very nice music as well, pretty tasteful and catchy.
After some patches it might be pretty great. It'd also be nice if they made the trees not look like an utter joke, the difference in comparison with Rally is staggering.

I hope I didn't hurt anyone with my "piracy" in the end:p

Probably the stage generator. It was quite obvious the assets it could work with would be quite limited. We have a seemingly infinite number of stages now but they all feel a lot more plain and artificial.
What's a bigger surprise to me is that I can't hold locked 60fps at 1440p on a 1070...

I'll be trying my PS4 controller with this and Rally, the analog feels better than on the Xbox controller. I'm curious how it'll work in rally games.
