DiRT 4

you will be a lot slower in arcade mode but sim mode is harder to master.just be on spain in the evo.drive it like you stole it :D

it does ease you in though.so you start off with pretty easy to drive cars and easy events and gradually build.

first few events you can run just about flat out.

Is the simulation mode as good as Dirt Rally's handling model? Also, how do the graphics compare? I like Dirt Rally's because to me the art style looks very realistic whereas from what I've seen of Dirt 4 on youtube it looks more cartoony, but that might just be youtube.

Hiya lads.

Any of you lot got any good suggestions for getting my wheel to feel 'right' within Dirt Rally. Its the Thrusmaster T300 GTE, just looking for pointers if possible within the settings / control panel. Thank you.

cobra try some other thrustmaster settings for dirt rally.should be plenty on youtube.should be similar on most of their wheels.

ltron at first wasnt sure but i was driving a pretty slow car also had to change how i have my settings as its not the same as dirt rally exactly in sim mode.tarmac is great now which was a bit of a weak point of dirt rally.only assetto corsa has that right until now.:D

i have done a couple of videos but youtube compression sucks in some positions.so it looks a lot better than in video.

i have just made a stage in spain with the evo and at first i was like wtf but then practiced a little with it and you really have to drive it like you stole it then you start to love it. wales with r5 fiesta rs next.your stage is great.

not knowing all the corners really changes everything :p

wales ford fiesta R5 your stage generated

Yeah, from what I've watched on YT it does look pretty weak... Not that I mind, but still.

What's your take on this game, Dg? Worth it for someone who already has Dirt Rally?
Is there enough content and environmental variety? After all, we've lost four rally locations.

Considering picking this up as I still go for an occasional stage run in Rally l but I don't necassarily have to get it now.

the quality you see on youtube depends on the cockpit views and youtube compression which is youtube end . it looks better than dirt rally .

its annoying as i have some great footage but youtube compresses it makes it look pixelated.nothing you can do though.

the game is great. the handling once you get your wheel set to how you like it is better than dirt rally.the your stage is instant.really changes how you play.not knowing what is next really adds to the immersion and you know if you mess up its over.

when i did the stage in the dark in wales i cant describe how good it was.wales is hard anyway but what they added and you can feel it through the wheel just makes it immense. you may not see it or notice it but the ground is very uneven you feel that also corners with like cut out banks which dont look anything will catch you out.

so you have to be tuned in especially on sim mode with all assists off and pushing hard.

few tweaks this will be the best rally game ever.Dirt rally was the bare bones experience they tweaked that and added in extras.

the thing is if you not one of those sim guys who wants to race his balls off you can still play arcade assists and do pretty well and have fun.you will be slower than a sim player as assists slow you down but youll have fun.

Are the graphics settings turned down on this?

Looks like it's being run on low powered pc or something as the graphics look like they've come from a console version.

Really hope it looks better than this on my rig!!!

Dg pc is not low powered, if you check a few other Dirt 4 vids they look the same.

Check out this one by Dg's > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58wDqTeeDpU >Dirt Rally Sweet Lamb Wales graphics are far better.

Thanks. I'm not a professional player but I liked the handling in Rally and played without any assists (but had automatic gearbox on). I was able to get good enough to have fun with the game, far from the fastest but still. If I get this one, I sure as hell won't be using arcade handling.

The thing is, I was playing on a controller. Is D4 manageable with that?

I also wonder whether it's possible that they'll make DLCs with some new countries since it's the main entry.

some people are amazing on racing rally games with keyboards and controllers.im not one of them :D.some do set world records so i guess its just muscle memory and practice.its a shame you cant pick up a cheap wheel like a logitech DFGT to try it.they go for about £50-60 2nd hand but it transforms the game.
