DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

To be honest, i did expect a flaming from the staunch gods messengers :p, but i'm not going to prevaricate. I do pirate the games of interest. My justification is i have 3 kids under the age of 7, a house, an expensive classic car and other stuff to pay for so buying all the games i'm interested in is pretty low on the list of life, but i DO buy most of the ones i like eventually but rarely at full price.

I don't see the problem if they get my money at the end. It's a pretty wise move on my part to test a game before handing over money, but i can bet most people on this forum have a torrent client on their machines or Kodi with streaming addons such as dexter/genesis/DIJ/phoenix etc. Aren't those the same thing when it all boils down it it? Of course they are.

Anyway. I've bought it. Back on topic, i've been waiting for a game like this for ages. Took a lot of getting used to compared to the rest of the DiRT games. Good time ahead

Good job on buying it, it's definitely worth the price. With pirated copies, it's more so that you haven't purchased the right to play the game since it isn't F2P. That's when Steam refunds are handy.

But yes, the same goes for everything else as you say.

If you can afford all that you can afford this game :) just joking, great game and good you bought it.

glad you brought it new update today probably at 2 pm with the new cars

should also be a dirt twitch show i think at 3pm.

I treated myself to this over the weekend and have to say I'm really enjoying it so far! :D

Jumped straight in to the career mode, bought my first car and started the first championship.....and promptly got hammered! :p

Over the four stages I think I was around 2 minutes off the pace (4th or 5th overall I think) - does this sound about right? (bearing in mind I'm using an XBox 360 pad rather than a wheel!)

Driving relatively conservatively (mainly because I'm too afraid to go hell for leather and end up at the bottom of a ravine) I'm finding myself around 10-20 seconds behind the leader at each split time stage and I don't know if it's 100% because I'm not brave enough or whether my car isn't good enough yet without any upgrades! (apart from a couple of very quick portions where I was actually marginally quicker! :D)

I, for one, don't blame you, especially that you've paid for it in the end. Where I live, games can be rather expensive and I'd be pretty ****ed If I bought a buggy mess like Unity or Arkham Knight. I won't hesitate to pirate stuff from devs who don't respect their customers and release lacklustre products. If they have the gall to put out a game that needs four months of fixing to be even remotely playable, then why should I feel obliged to stuff their pockets with money?

I also pirated Dirt Rally to see what the fuss was about. But I bought it after playing for a bit as a I felt it wasn't yet another half-assed effort (at least in terms of overall polish, as there's still too little content in terms of locations/stages IMO). Same with GTA V, bought on relase as I knew I won't end up disappointed. I pirated Mad Max and MGSV as well, but both are now in my Steam library. Just because they were worth it. Sorry, but these days I simply won't drop any money on a game before trying it myself and there are no demos anymore (think I know why)...

If it's a Steam game that argument just doesn't hold water any more. You have 14 days or 2 hrs of gameplay to get a no questions asked refund from them.

Days of pirating to 'test' should be long gone.

In my case, I wish had done a 'try before you buy' as 2hrs isn't really enough to go through all the different tweaks to try and get ffb sorted out.

I did it with the F1 2014 after being burned by a couple of the previous titles (ffb) and I was glad that I didn't pay for it. Deleted that sucker after a few hours of fruitless attempts and nobody lost out.

I fail to see the difference as long as I buy the game in the end. Besides, Petey's right. 2hrs is sometimes not enough to test a game. It took me around that replaying a single section in Arkham Knight and tinkering with that tweak tool to get the game to run acceptably. If I were to follow your righteous logic I'd be stuck with a title that runs like crap with no way to get a refund. And I think the refund policy only applies to purchases made on Steam and not on key sites and auctions.

And days of developers taking the mick out of people should be long gone as well.

Maybe 2hrs isn't enough to dial in the perfect settings but should be enough time to decide if something is a keeper.

Think we've derailed the thread enough though! Need more tracks...

For me, it's only a keeper because I have faith that I'll find a happy medium somehow. Like I said earlier, I'm sure there is a great feeling game in there and I'm sure it's very popular for good reason. Pretty too.

race any track when you cross finishing line cluck compare to friends. then that will give you your global position.

it will be the number at side of your name.

my 2nd in world from earlier.
