DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

Cockpit or dash cam is the only way to play a sim imo.
I feel like I'm cheating if iuse other views, I'm a sucker for realism ~::)

Yup cockpit only for me, shame there aint a separate scoreboard for each view, as soon as i go out of cockpit my times are much better, just a shame the cockpit graphics are so bad, will the modding community be able to make better cockpits for this game, hope so as current cockpits look like 10 yearsold.

ended up getting another logitech driving force GT. im used to using them .
Cool, how do you find the straight line / tarmac ffb? I run a T300 GTE and i find it lacking (feels light, not much detail / feedback), put it into a corner, across gravel, off a jump etc. all good though.

Hi folks. Does anyone know if this game works with 4K MST screens? I read that there were issues with MST displays but that was a few months ago so I wondered if the issue had been fixed?

Cheers.

Would be interesting to hear how it is with a controller now its coming to console as so far it looks more sim heavy and would benefit from a wheel! (Not played it, just going off hearsay)

I had about an hour at it with a controller and ended upsing the steam refund, just couldn't get to grips with it, I didn't see too much to convince me to buy a wheel or persevere further with. Each to their own and all that jazz.

1 hr you cant hardly play any tracks in that time or know anything. shame really. think it took me 50-100 hrs before i knew most the tracks and i dont even know all of them yet after nearly 400 hrs.

It's long enough for me to know whether I'm going to get into it or not.

I've played loads of games where I didn't know what I was doing for the first hour but I knew straight away that it was worth persevering with. Skill and results come later with practice/hours invested but you need that initial interest/spark.

+1, but at my age change that to 50>100 days. lol

At 1st drive smoothly and not flatout so you don't crash as much and this gets your conferdence up, which helps you learn the stages.

Also brake for the bends go in slow>accelerate out, the less you crash the quicker your times will be.

Scandinavian flick to get round bends takes practice as no to bends are the same, or using your handbrake to get round..

Smoothness and learning the stages is the key at first to quicker times.

there is championships open, clubman, professional, masters and the like.

events with community.

daily events,weekly,monthly.

mp in rallycross.

Still wondering what main features this game has?
It's a decent rally game which has been missing for years on the PC.

If you've got a wheel it comes into it's own but even with a pad if you're vaguely a driving fan it's still well worth it. It's not Need for Speed so not wrapped up in layers of rubbish, just pure driving.

I'm still early doors into it at 40 - 50hrs but i've not even started a career choosing to just faff with single custom events.

Cheers will get it then! PCars made me a bit hesitant as i found that to be a bit empty but this sounds more like it! I imagine theres a "best settings" profile fir a g27?

It's worth a play buying direct from Steam as you have up to 2 hrs of game time to request a refund if you don't get on with it.

If you're brave and think it'll be for you CDkeys are currently the cheapest i think (plus the 5% Facebook discount)

In the Dirt Rally Steam workshop there is a profile for the G27 so might be worth a look at.

steering profiles are very individual.

i would set logitech profiler to default make sure centering is on.then work on ingame settings. degrees on wheel from 200-540 or if you want to be ultra realistic 900 which will have you sweating like a dog :D

the ingame setting that throws most people with a wheel is tourque alignment.

i use low setting. default is 100.

there are many people with G27s so profile/settings arnt to hard to find.

also now steam has the workshop added. so you can copy peoples car set ups.

just remember many cars behave different.so i would pick a easy to drive car for a start.cars that are RWD or just pigs like the lancia stratos are very hard to handle.take time learning. fiesta rs rally is very easy to drive as is the new Volkswagen Polo which basically sticks to everything.
