DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

Doesn't even work in Xfire at all now, turned FreeSync off, tried to start a rally, but everytime the stage loads now, instead of starting it, it just sits on a black screen for about 2 seconds, then i get a BSOD, shutdown to prevent damage, physical dump job, then it restarts.

Runs fine on a single card, FreeSync on or off as well.

When i was on the 15.9.1 BETAs, it was fine in Xfire, when it worked, as i got the random back to desktop when the stages loaded with FreeSync, which was mentioned in the release notes of the drivers as being a known problem, crashing with FreeSync and Xfire in Dirt Rally.

Nothing wrong with my cards, as just ran through FS in Xfire to check em, and it was fine.

I'll be going back to a single card when the new ones come out (i run in single card mode now anyway tbh), as Xfires garbage, its just got too many problems.

Try turning weather to low, let me know what happens.

I'm finally getting to grips with this game (using G29) and after having the game for ages the latest patch for me has improved things a lot regarding my ability to drive the cars (coincidence!). Great game but I've no idea how it plays on a pad. Excellent update and I'm looking forward to rallying again.

Some players do very well with a pad, but a steering wheel set up is far better plus more relistic.

If you want lessons improving your drivers rage see Dg, he's 2nd in the UK.:p

hehe . trying for world record yesterday powers round last bend in the rwd renault 5 see line powers on little too much and touches the tape next to finnish line 15 sec penalty :confused::p

many swear words :p

I bought this game the other day and it didn't gel with me for some reason i don't know why but it just feels way off when using a 60s rally car on dirt there is far to much grip but i guess that's because i am more into the race sims then the arcade versions like this game seems to feel like but hey it's fun to drive if not taken to seriously.

Anyone got any tips for a beginner to this game like advanced settings? steering settings, what assists to have on? I feel like the cars dont turn very well?

Playing with a xbone controller

205 in sweden is like being cast into hell :D

almostgfx you might want to search on steam in workships fot xbox pad settings. rememeber all cars drive different on different surfaces.

to get the best out the game a wheel really helps.

some people can get top ten times on keyboard or joypad if you just play about with the settings.

I'm also using a pad and I just turned off all asists and stuck with it. This game has a steep learning curve but you get a lot better at it with time. It's best with a wheel but I'm nowhere near good a driver to justify it. I'm barely good enough to have fun with it so I have to be hapy with finishing daily events within upper middle/lower top tier etc.:p

As Dg said, all cars behave differently and you have to adjust your driving accordingly. FWD are prone to understeer, whereas RWD tend to spin out in corners if you're not dosing the throttle properly. Some will even spin out on straights if you go all out:p The easiest and most forgiving to drive are probably modern 4WD cars.

If you want to get faster you need to pay attention to pace notes or just memorise the stages since you'll have to position the car correctly quite a bit before entering a corner.

EDIT: Take a look at the tutorial videos they've added with the latest update, might come in handy

I'm so bad at this game, yet I love it.

However after completing an event I realised it took me longer than it takes me to drive to work. lol :D

Just got this game and ran a couple of rallies and rallcross and it's fantastic, not very good at it yet but I want to keep trying :) got it for £13.60 as well, money well spent

If Codies suddenly announced they're planning to make one DLC rally location (not gonna happen obviously but one can dream:p) and let you choose, which one would you guys pick?

As much as I miss Japan and Spain (the former a lot more, though), I'd probably go with Australia, New Zealand or Africa because loose surfaces are the most fun to drive on:D Or some more exotic APRC location, India, China or Malaysia perhaps. Would be absolutely epic with those graphics!

EDIT: And I wouldn't mind shelling out the price of a full game for each of them, still would be worth it considering stuff like Quantum Break goes for 50 quid and is worth maybe 5
