Hi, anybody who's had there DFGT wheel a good while l bought mine secondhand about a year ago was getting a bit stiff + noisy, so decided to clean and grease the internal wheels. To take the top cover off take out 7 chrome screws and the undo black nut that holds the gear stick from base underneath and the cover should just come off.
On taking the cover off l gave it a good blast of air to remove any dust from all the ciruitboards/wheels and noticed the lack of grease on them.
So to lubricate the gear wheels and a flat moving white bar underneath a metel support brace held in by two black screws+two chrome screws>Note the metel support brace only fits one way.
The lubricate l used was Weldtite TF2 Lithium Grease[Anti Corrosive, Anti Seize, Long Life] bought from a bike shop 40g Tube about £2.50.
To which l applied the grease to the teeth of each wheel and spread it with a cotton bub into the teeth till the wheel was fully done.
Now the flat moving bar dab abit on its base rail and again spread it with a cotton bud till the rail is done, replace the support brace dab a bit grease on each off the two black screws+two chrome screws tightening fully home till it stops and no more
Remove any access grease make sure the the rocking bar with a spring either side is properly home before you replace the cover where the gear stick goes, check to see that the cover is properly in place.
Then bab each of the severn screws with grease, tightening fully home till it stops and no more, now re-insert the gear stick its keyed and will only go in one way and screw the nut home.
Note: All the chrome screws are all the same size, as well as the two black one's. Be carefull not to snag wires or get any grease on the cicuitboards or wires.
After putting the DFGT wheel back together and connected back up to my PC started up Dirt and noticed straight away it was a lot smoother with less noise due to friction making the steering wheel turn a lot better was well worth doing.
