DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

depends on which view you using also. best thing to do is find someones gamepad settings that are known to work well.

many are on steam and on the official dirt forums .

thing is settings can be personal.

Could you tell me the stage you found the worst and the car you were driving (and your best time)? And also the average speed at which you were tackling those problematic sections if it's not a problem? I'd like to have a shot at it and try to replicate the issue. Maybe I'm just going too slow to notice:p

Probably easier for you to pick one and post your time for me to have a go at. I rage quit long before finishing a stage.

Fair enough, but pick the stage and the car:p I don't intend to compete with you as I'm 100% certain I'll be slower but just want to check whether the unresponsiveness is really bad, haven't raced in Wales for quite a while. I'll try to drive as fast as possible:D

In any car? 2010 are really forgiving, you should try them. I often find myself having to restart but that's more down to my lack of skill. Unless you mean cars like the Pug which are REALLY difficult on a pad in Wales. I tried Ffern Wynt in that yesterday and could finish for the life of me:mad: I always made a mistake somewhere when going faster and had to retry.

I kinda get the unresponsiveness on longer fast straights you're talking about but I've always chalked it up to loose surface/high speed and just tried to react faster or slow down a bit. Pace notes are really helpful but I still don't listen to them;p

I'll try some pad settings myself and share what I find;)

EDIT: But I agree, the game can be plain aggravating at times, especially when cars behave like they have no weight to them at all and roll/crash at the slightest contact with a small bump.

Steering wheels Tips, l use a dfgt-

To help the car corner better go to front/rear suspension settings>toe angle +1 click right, have not tried the one below.

Steering responsive have a look in advanced wheel settings>steering linearity around -3.

Don't now if these tips would help for those using a pad.

UPdate:using> steering linearity -3+ >toe angle +1 click right, does make a differance in Steering responsive+Cornering.

Fantastic game ! Really enjoying it with the Xbox One pad and finding it a lot of fun. Gonna dig out my G290 soon to see the difference.

One niggle tho, is it just me or is it a massive oversight that the only way to see your best times is to check 'compare against friends' at the end of a race ?

Edit - WOW!! to the video above :)

The default steering settings assigned to the Logitech driving force GT are bonkers. Effectively, it was not possible to control the car due to virtually no weight, over sensitivity, and a large dead zone in the centre.

The best I could get out of it was to do this:

Self aligning torque = 150% (was 100%)
Wheel friction = 150% (was 100%)
Tyre friction = 150% (was 100%)
Steering dead zone = 0% (was 20%)

I have linearity at 2, but I can't remember what the default number is.

I still can't feel understeer through it though. Colin McRae Rally 2.0 with a Microsoft Sidewinder wheel (circa 2000) worked well without any set up!

What wheel are you using dfgt or Microsoft Sidewinder wheel?

Plenty of members using a dfgt and are well pleased, if using a sidewinder could be its a bit out dated.

I'm running stock setting on a dfgt wheel and feel it needs to be stiffened up a bit. What settings do you all use? Also what rotation?

default everything logitech.

in-game lower the torque alignment below 50 to your liking.

what throws so many people is they think they can just blast the cars off the bat.each car is different . each surface is different.it will come gradually

when setting wheel up use the most basic easy to drive car i would say ford focus or ford fiesta or vw polo.

So are all your other settings (ingame) on 100% mate?

For some reason when I start a game it crashes to the desktop sometimes with an error 41 code, files have been verified but this hasn't worked. Any ideas how to solve this?

Woops! My post does read that way. Using a DFGT, not the sidewinder. Sold the sidewinder years ago! It's pretty good on the DFGT. I also set linearity to -3 and it does seem even better.
