DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

there has been a small patch to fix the audio

Version 1.22 Fix list - Steam

· Audio - Engine and Co-Driver balance is now back to how it was in 1.20.

· Audio - Surround now works like it did in 1.20.

· Audio - Engine audio during post race sequence now plays out correctly.

Still doesnt go through Rift by default. I have to set rift to my primary audio device which i never had to do before.

Not exactly hard to set in the options but to me it work working fine before the patch and now its not. I never noticed anything fixed in the patch notes either - the biggie for me was that fps would drop to ~70 for no reason on some tracks even when CPU and GPU were setting at 60% usage

Wow that's some seriously OCD gaming right there. I mean normally practice makes perfect but this makes me worried at even the prospect of reading it.

I just looked at it and forgot about it.

The only things l adjust is the gearing and suspension slightly and thats it.

If your using a wheel getting that set up right for you makes a big difference in dirt.

Getting to know the stages is a must and as Dg says practice makes perfect, look at the times he gets in Wales.

Learn to use the scandinavian flick, handbrake turn for cornering.

Put it all together and you'll be flying, you hope.

This is starting to annoy me now. I pushed hard and managed to finish 4th place in the general rally, only to be told I was still 19 points short of the quantity needed to unlock the next level. Exactly what does this game expect of the player?

It is a bit daft. I haven't played it for ages, I may fire it up for a laugh but it doesn't do much for inspiring you to keep playing it.

4th is not good enough you need to finish in the top 3 most of the time to get the points to get promoted.

what class are you in open ?

maybe i can give you some tips.this game is hard.you get the reward of learning and doing well.

i did very bad at the start . just practice pick the cars that you like and learn after a bit it clicks and you start to progress.

also some cars are a lot harder to win events in. what car rally are you doing ?

I always just go on custom rally and pick a stage and car (usually subaru impreza 2001)

By completing the championship game does it unlock other tracks/stages?

Just fired it up, did 30 secs and turned it back off. It's just not fun at all, which is what gaming is about.

If every game was easy that would also take the fun out of it.

Yes its hard at the begining just get on with it.

As you learn the stages you'll get quicker so giving you more money to buy the cars.

Don't go flat out at first so you can learn the stage and driving lines so you don't crash.

Your driving will improve giving you better times.

Not everyone can be as good as CaptainRAVE, Dg, Youngblood, etc.

I won't be so l compete against myself, this is a really good Rally Game.

Dirt Rally is a tough game, agreed. But its a lot of fun. Originally got the game for PS4 but picked it up on Steam and its amazing fun on PC

The rally cross is hard as nails, but that feeling you get when you nail it. Dirt Rally is a game the more you play it the better it becomes, like most good racing titles really.

As OLDPHART said, go slow, learn the stages and you'll get quicker over time.

realistically you need 50-100 hrs before you start to improve. put in the time its a really good game. then again not all games suit every one. it would be a shame to miss out on one of the best car games on pc though.

I have 80 hrs logged in and still counting, got bored of Witcher 3 and its surprisingly basic plot/repetitive gameplay quicker. To each his own I guess but if you like driving and improving your times, then I don't see what's so unrewarding about this game. I don't even play championships, just pick a car/stage and have fun improving.

It's crazy hard but crazy rewarding. I've not been on it for a few weeks but when I do play it. I'm rubbish. But I keep doing sections over and over and over until I'm happy with my times.

There's just no room for error, you can't play and have fun, it's either perfect run or upside down in a ditch.

Its pretty exhausting at times. I just find that limiting your revs and toying with the hand brake etc is good fun. Just concentrate on finishing tracks and not going fast.

Im glad im not the only one that thinks that.. any time I try to go harder I wipe it out.
